She's no teacher if she doesn't understand the concept of different techniques. A teacher is there to give you the tools to get good, and encourage you to create your own style. Just because Pardee doesn't paint like Picasso, doesn't mean his technique is a bad one to idolize. It's always good to try things a different way. Your teacher got what was coming to her haha.
