  • was just wondering if you learned this technique from Bob Ross?

  • Impressive, unfortunately my paintings are still looking like they're from pre school. Going to try out these techniques and maybe I'll use less paint haha

  • Great ! You paint and teach how to paint extremely well! What a gifted teacher! Thank you. Now I feel encouraged to try to follow your steps. As to linseed I would like to see how much of it you take on the brush. I watched these videos with the thrill of excitement .

  • thank you thank you thank you

    you are simply amazing!

  • you are an extremely talented artist and a great teacher. ive always wanted to be able to paint the sky and i think with a new box of oils and these videos i might learn how to, thank you.

  • I am kind of new to oil painting and I tried this already and i always add linseed oil and i notice that the colors always seem to blend in, should i stop using the oil ?

  • wow, this is an amazing piece!!

  • Thinking of getting into oil painting now......

  • ty for the videos!

  • wonderful....

  • What a great teacher :), Thanks for such a brilliant lesson Michael.

    Regards,

    Jordan (UK)

  • I really enjoyed your videos, I have been painting for a while now, but I never really looked into videos such as yours, I may get me some of those brushes now that I know what they are for! Thank you for sharing us your knowledge.

  • great work!

  • @toulaya986 Thank You :-)

  • Your kindness shines through; good on you for inspiring people.

  • Thank you!

  • Very informative videos! I've been painting with acrylics since high school, and have an idea for a sci-fi/abstract painting with oil paint. I was just wondering, with the pre-stretched, pre-gessoed canvases, do you recommend any sort of preparation beyond just staring at it? Lol i know kind of a silly question but I don't want to dive into this and end up with a big oily mess. Thanks!!! Art = <3

  • Hi what material do you paint on if you wish to frame your painting? Kind regards

  • @rottweiler124 you can paint on all kinds of material stretched canvas is what I like to paint on for oils I worked as a manager for a frame shop for several years so I have seen all sorts of materials framed.

    Regards,

    Michael

  • In less than an hour, you, sir, have been able to create something brilliant.

  • Great technique! I was wondering why you don't paint the sides of the canvas? Do you recommend other artists to leave the sides blank as well?

  • @kinaiscool123 I do paint the sides sometimes, I have the canvas stabilized on the easel and it is a few step process to keep removing and putting it back. Filming and doing this makes it hard, I encourage anyone to do that it looks really nice when the painting is complete.

    Regards,

    Michael

  • WOW! This picture is just absolutely magnifisantlyest beautiful! I know that magnifisantlyest isn't a real word but real words can't describe how beautiful this painting is.If only I were that good.

  • Thats amazing man! never seen such thing before. I have been painting with oil colors for quite some time now but my problem is control. its sometimes very difficult to control the colors. After watching this video i came upon the conclusion that its because you use a lot of brushes and clean brushes.

Also i need a tip, how to clean the brushes after painting??

    Thanks mate.

  • honestly, I haven't painted professionally b4..I just love drawing, sketching, designing..but one day I bought that kinda paper cloth 4 painting to make a difference but I don't know how to start :( infact, I only have one ordinary brush..

  • I watched the four part series and it was great! Thank you :) I can't go to art school right now but I badly want to learn how to paint so finding you/watching your videos has been really really helpful. Keep it up! You're helping a lot of aspiring artists! :)

  • beautiful

  • bob ross without afro :D amazing dude:D keep on bringing the videos:D

  • Great Job!! Bravisimo! :)

  • Such amazing videos. Did you know Patton Oswalds mentions you and William Alexander in one of his stand-up routines?

  • Thanks Michael, I really enjoyed that - amazing how you brought the canvas to life.

  • Great lesson - thank you for sharing both your talent and great attitude - very inspiring!

  • I wouldn't hang it in my house

  • is there any method of how to spread and mix colors on that palette ?

I see you have your white mixes in a line under the white.

  • oh man when i watch it from the start there is nothing to it ... but actually it all made sense in the end!!! awesome work!

  • oh man when i watch it from the start there is nothing to it ... but actually it all made sense in the end!!! awesome work!

  • Bravo, wow wasnt expecting everything to pop that well at the beggining. Thanks you very much inspired me to start oil painting

  • excellent painting.it is very much useful..............thanx a lot:)

  • Im a beginner and i would like to know how many different brushes do you use?

  • Following this, I was able to produce a painting worth keeping! I've dreamed, and craved to paint for as long as I can remember - only recently have I desired to paint with oils.

Getting some oil paints on christmas, a quick search of a guide lead me to you. You've introduced me to a lifetime of painting, thank you very much for your contribution of knowledge!

  • hey was wondering what were the brand of brushes you were using

  • It's amazing that Bob Ross was able to paint a masterpiece in 25min.

    This painting was great too!

  • It's Beautiful what you did, very simple, very helpful :-)

  • @jacksonpek93 both at the same time LOL , if you are having problems starting get a photo or any picture look at it get inspired don't paint it like what you are seeing change things around for instance if a tree is on the left side of the photo put yours in the lower right part of the painting.

    regards,

    Michael

  • Thank you so much!

  • Great videos, thanks! I've just started art classes, can you do this with acrylic paint?

  • @PaulValenciaSpain yes if the paint you start with is thick and remember it is trial and error that makes us paint better.

    regards,

    Michael

  • Very clearly shown! Even if one does not understand well englich, good instructions! Thanks for it! Many greetings welli from Dresden

  • I have a question about how you care for the brushes once they have the paint on them and need to be cleaned. How do you clean them? Would you soak them in the lindseed oil?

  • @wouldntyoulike2know no I use odorless thinner "turpenoid" an artist grade. not hardware store brand unless you are cleaning outside.:-)

    Regards,

    Michael

  • @creativecolour Thank you so much for telling me. :) This will definately help me out. I was having to buy new brushes quite frequently because I couldn't clean them properly. Thanks again for your advice and very inspirational video. :)

  • Awesome! A masterpiece in less than 40 minutes.

  • :) make it happen ,, ok ill try

  • i wish i could do that ,

  • I paint occasionally and hit walls (of sort) often. How much is the image already thought through at the beginning of the painting process?... or is it mainly a background, middle, and foreground basis and then freestyle from then on?

  • really enjoyed watching this series..thank you very much :)

  • very impressive. im 27 n never painted anything in my life but im gonna give it a go. i thought u had to draw to be able to produce something like that but its just using brush techniques to build it up step by step..now i know how constable painted the haywain.lol. can u mix acrylics with oils on the same canvas or is it the norm to stick to one type of paint?

  • thankyou michael i lern alot great job ! muy lindas pinturas

  • Thank you for this video, great painting!

  • EXCELLENT WORK

GOD BLESS HAVE A NICE DAY.

    BOB.D.

  • Very helpful. Thank you. Very peaceful and pleasant teaching style. A full screen close-up of the finished piece would have been good.

  • Thanks! I watched all four episodes of this scene and will try to imitate it to make a duplicate. This method of breaking the whole into parts is exactly what I was looking for on youtube.

  • You remind me of bob ross :)

  • awsome….u make it seem as easy as ABC .

    Really enjoyable watching you paint.

  • omg that was awesum:)!!!!:)

  • im guessing you watched alot of bob ross? lol

  • Yh i have trouble with painting water too.

  • I love oil painting, but I have troubles with painting water scenes, any suggestions?

  • @abii323 what kind of problems happen when you are painting, and are you painting wet on wet style?

    regards,

    Michael

  • @creativecolour

Hey, this is awesome! Thanks so much!!! :) I have one question though- when i paint on good quality heavy paper, I still get yellow stains on the reverse because of the linseed oil. Will it help if i use some kind of acrylic primer to prepare the paper before painting?

  • great videos amazing how easy you make it look

  • Great watching your lessons. Just finished a bob ross workshop..

After painting only with acrylics a new world has opened to me.

    Thanks... love Bianca

  • Excellent teaching and I am so inspired to pick up my brush and paint and try one.

Your entire demonstration was made to feel so easy, inspiring and challenging. Thank you so much for such a profound teaching.

  • wow. thank you for sharing this. love it. i can start painting. :)

  • I enjoyed watching your video's I had no idea what you were doing from start to finish.

There were a few times that I thought that you had ruined it, However you are a true professional.

It was a delight to have watched.

  • He's so funny...

  • Супер!!!обязательно надо попробывать что-нибудь подобное

  • It's beautiful!

I only watched lesson 3 and 4. I noticed you didn't use a painting medium to work into your paint. I'm a beginner, and I was wondering... how often are you supposed to use the medium? and what are the contents? i heard 2 parts solvent/thinner and 1 part oil (linseed, poppy, safflower, etc)

    Please respond, thanks!

  • the paint I use "Lukas Studio Oils" is very buttery mixes very well together. plus the technique wet on wet I only add mediums when I need to thin my paint to do fine detail or add highlights. if you get all of your paints to thin then you get a muddy mess. hope that helps?

    regards,

    Michael

  • Soo good and sooo relaxing (I have a wierd thing where watching/hearing sum1 draw/paint makes me calm in the brain)

  • speaking of which wonder were all of bob rosses vids r at strange that theres only idiots with really dumb non funny vids.

  • I think I saw an episode on my space. Miss Bob Ross. This guy is great too.

  • yes he is~

  • The people that own Bob Ross's company (his videos, brushes, and paint sets) forced the few people that had his videos up to remove them or face legal action a while back. I was extremely upset when that happened and I would have to think Bob Ross would've been upset as well, I always felt he cared more about sharing art than making money.

  • 110% CORRECT---ZENMONK~

  • I'm glad you explained this. Because I was wondering what happened to all those clips. And I agree that Bob would have wanted us to enjoy them. Nobody does it like Bob. I miss his soothing voice. He always put me in a relaxed state.

  • me too,eidahageferoe~~~~~
