@Lucifer986 Because that's how the respective vocalists feel like enunciating. If everyone did clean, understandable singing, there'd be a lot less diversity in the musical world.
@zarucarsha The problem is that they are not enunciating the words at all , a song with vocals and lyrics is supposed to be heard on the spot. going on the internet to get lyrics is not being heard
@Lucifer986 It's *your* opinion that the lyrics should be understood, but obviously the respective artists seem to disagree with you ;) Music is art, lyrics are poetry and artists can express their works however they want. Maybe vocalists use hard-to-understand vocals in order to get you to go out of your way to appreciate their poetry. Just a thought.
@zarucarsha nonsense. how can you appreciate the poetry if you cannot hear it ? music is self-contained (all things within itself) as is all art, when you looking at art your looking at it, when your listening to music you are listening to music and everything that is intended to be heard must be contained within that piece. Having to google the lyrics and go beyond the reach of the music just means that the the composer is a poor artist who does not know much about expression
@Lucifer986 You're associating incomprehensible vocal styles with a lack of creative ability, which makes absolutely no sense at all. Music is art, and vocals are part of that art. Not all vocalists wish for their voices to be "understandable" because in order to do that they would have to take away effort from creating the specific sounds, atmospheres and feelings they originally set out to. Vocals are supposed to create a certain feeling--the same for lyrics--but
...but the two do not have to match perfectly. It's nonsense to imply that you know exactly how an artist should best create artwork, just because you don't like harsh vocal styles.
@zarucarsha lol this is MUSIC with lyrics. if Beethoven performed music that no one can hear , it would not be music although the physical performance live might be considered performance art. this song - MUSIC with lyrics that make sense, the lyrics are not audible what so ever unless you chose to google them. If this is some sort of performance interactive art then goggling lyrics can be justified as part of it. but this is MUSIC.
@Lucifer986 What's your point, honestly? You're saying that because the vocalist does not enunciate well enough for you to discern what is being said, he must not want people to appreciate his lyrics? I'd really like to understand why that is a valid assumption and not simply an attack on the band for not sounding exactly how you wish them to. Different artists create art differently, and these guys--whether they write excellent lyrics or not--choose to utilize harsher vocals. Deal with it.
@zarucarsha misunderstand me, i just asked why? (not that there is a answer lol) i like the music and i like the lyrics but it would be nice if i don't have to discern them when listening to the music . i don't mind harsh vocals
Really? I think Wake/Lift is actually their weakest album. I think determinism takes a huge leap forward, at least as far as production values and the ambient sounds used.
Hey guys, I ended up tabbing the bass intro. If any of you want it just send me a message and Ill happily send it to ye
