1903-A1-06 or A2-06, Bolt Action, Chambered in 30-06 Springfield. Made for the U.S. Army. The rifle had several modifications during its service life. The rear sights were moved to the very back of the breach on the -A3-06 models and accuracy was improved as the sight distance between the front and rear sights was lengthened. There was even a U.S. Navy model, the 1903-NA3-06. It was an excellent shooter and introduced most young infantrymen and sailors to the 30-06 Springfield cartridge.
how powerful as far a penatration is the 30-06 compared to 308 and do they have good range. I was thinking of buying one but I a not going to waist money
it really depends on what type of shell you use for penetration. They both have alot of mass behind them and will drill pretty deep into a target. As far as range, most guns that have the old slide type sight let you sight in your shot up to 5 miles, obviously a dream to be acurrate at that range, but they can go that far at the right angle. Not something to fool around with considering a .22 is estimated to be able to only cover a mile and a half.

dont be stupid 3006 rifle is made basically asa a sniper rifle m1 garand doest have the same 3006 caliber and m1 garand is an assault rifle, if u play video games like medal of honor u can see the sniper is called springfield which is actually the same 3006 rifle either way 3006 rifle is a much precise and more potent than the m1 garand, well u can see it in the bullet size.
I dont know what ur on right now, but i didnt say that the m1 garand was the same caliber, but it is, i just said it replaced the 1903 in combat, and just so you know, 30-06 guns use the same caliber, cause its a .30 caliber shell and 06 cause it was standardized for case length in 1906. Next time u want to talk guns with a NRA member, know your facts, not just what a video game told you, cause i hate to tell you, ITS NOT REAL!
the springfield m1903 is a bolt action rifle used in ww1 that was used as a sniper in ww2. the garand is no where near an assault rifle. it is a battle rifle that fires a full power cartridge. it is one of the best rifles ever made. please stick to video games or paintball as your name implies.
to me it looks like a Springfield model 1903

I shot a water-filled jug with my Mosin-Nagant and it made an ok-sized hole. I did the same with my 30-06 and the jug blew apart like a pinata.

Not an M1903a3 its an M1903. The 03a3 uses peep sights. This rifle had the older ladder sights.

its not quite an m1, it was replaced by the m1, it looks similar, but this is a bolt action used for sniping
