I have the D90 but have not shot the hd movie mode yet. Watching your footage reminds me of a movie flashback... Extremely done very well even though you were just messing around. I've found shooting and filiming that way are the best way and get best results. This is awsome. I will explore the movie mode.. I am a photographer too and understand that HD stills plus video especially hd video are in the market for photographers in the future. Customers are going to want footage like this.

this camera good for still video. but i dont like the quality when i see edits filmed with this camera with fast movie objects (skateborder, bmx, raceing) seems kinda chopy and odd. but its still as nice camera

You have to lock the exposure once you get it set. I've got a D5000 and once I found this out, my vids looked soo much better, no more flicker. Some of your shots are fantastic, beautiful model too.

@TheChuvachishe Ужас, когда не знают, что это не яркость прыгает, а не заблокирована автоэкспозиция. Заблокируй автоэкспозицию, и яркость не будет прыгать. В D7000 точно такая же тема. Можно сделать, чтобы яркость прыгала, а можно заблокировать автоэкспозицию или снимать с ручными настройками.

I have been doing lots of videos and the whole dark/bright/dark/bright thing makes it so you pretty much can't use the video professionally. If anyone knows of a solution, I would love to hear it. I tried locking the aperature but I think you must use some kind of filter or umbrella maybe? Inside is not as bad but outside where it should shine is bad unless you are lucky enough to have diffusion via overcast weather or shade.

@Whyrendog u have to lock ur exposure lock, itll keep the light from changing back and forth when u pan across from a dark spot to a light spot. its AE/AF button. ull have to hold it down constant, or if u go into the menu setting, u can set it to AE lock, so all u have to do is push it once and itll stay, then when u do video u wont have to hold it down. i keep forgetting to use mine when i make videos

@kamshaft83 Thanks. I got into it a little more but I couldn't figure out why I had to hold it all the time. I did find some info and can attest that once you get a lens with an aperature ring this thing turns into a Cannon5DMarkII (well it will make you happy anyway). I tried out the low light mod where you lock the ISO by holding it to a bright light then turn the aperature ring for low light AND low ISO. It was pretty crazy. Room lighting is like stage lighting/color of light shows++.

Which programs have you used to put together movies, I use a Finepix S2000HD and I can not edit movies in Windows Movie Maker, but those movies are saved in MP4 format .. Shit the same, what program and what format the movies are saved as you're shooting with the D90 ?

I had a Rebel cam but every time I zoomed in while shooting video it wouldn't auto focus so it would come out blurry... not sure if it was a setting I could change but although the video in focus was great, the zoom wasn't so great... this one looks great! love it, thank you!

I absolutely love the jerkiness of this video! it gives it an artistic story telling feel. The girl on the video is without a doubt an adorable model especially during those close up scenes at the end. It may just be me but I really like the parts where shes speaks. Something about it, along with the jerkiness of the video and the music just makes it seem more personally focused film. This also is a good kind of video that reminds me so much about a girl I used to know.

it's from the rolling shutter.  It isn't noticable as much when you get in the 60fps range. It is the same on pretty much all new digital video cameras and Dslrs. This will be 24p though, so it is particularly bad.

There are better options out there besides the d90 for video capture. The new canon rebel t2i shoot 480,720, and full HD 1080p in 30FPS. The d90 shoots 720p in 24fps. 30frames per second is much smoother. Plus the canon t2i has more feature. You should check it out.
