I can't imagine that a Diesel is reving over 5500rpm. Normally its impossible, because the Diesel physically explodes to slow for that... But really NICE, i love Diesel engines!! :D

ok i have the same car.. 300D 1987... and it has the worse 0-60 time ever and i thing it is eather the fuel filter or something..... but i am painting on bilding it and i dont know where to start ... do i need bigger injecters ? i know i need a bigger turbo but i want it faster then 0-60 in 2m... does anyone know what to do to this car

OM603 turbo diesel? Send the pump to Finland to Myna diesel or buy built 7mm myna pump. Costs around 1000-1300$ for built pump, but it puts out enough fuel for 500-600hp...

Then just start building exhaust manifold, exhaust etc. and slap a Holset HX40 super turbo on it. Voila, a healthy 350-400whp 300D that goes easily 4-5sec 0-60.

@JT42CWRM its because the 24 hour le mans race is built on endurance. and as we all know , diesel engine rev significantly lower than a petrol engine. which means less breakdowns + diesel also uses less fuel and in a endurance race like the 24 hours of le mans that is a plus. if you think diesel beats gasoline then why doesnt audi put a V12 TDI in their new audi R8 LMS race car?? because it won`t match up against the other gasoline powered cars. HDI peugeot and TDI audi is only for endurance.

The Mercedes in this video would hit 100 (0-60MPH) in about 3.5 seconds. It takes longer to go from 60-130MPH than it does from 0-60.
