  • Our class is going to the School Days event tomorrow. We appreciated checking out all the videos posted about the museum... this one is particularly nice. thank you, room 19

  • Great video. Looks like a nice place for a train buff to visit!

  • Am I going crazy or did I see an NS loco in the background at 2:28

  • @skullcrusher301 yes it is an operaton lifesaver

  • is it just me or does 8733 sound like BN locomotive like a whiteface somewhat.

  • nice horn on the cabbose!

  • #63 is a clean burning and looking machine!!!

  • Good video! But wish there was more "steam"! Where was the 765 and 1225???

  • Wow! They had a nice turnout. Thanks for posting.

Check out my cab ride video.

  • Wow this looked like lots of fun. Thanks for sharing

  • I couldn't find the source of that FINE sounding P5 at 5:12 do you know what loco it was on?

  • @BNSFbeagrett9647 That was one of the M5s at the Loco Air Horn display.

  • Great video! When I lived in Milwaukee I never made it to Monticello. I've been to Union many times and really miss the IRM. Maybe one day I can get back... I loved the Milwaukee NW2.

  • Thanks, Tom! Sounds good!

  • Very good video makes me want to be there

  • Thanks, Douglas! Hope you get a chance to visit sometime!

  • What a fine day that must have been!

    Wish I was there.

  • Yep, it was a lot of fun! I can't wait to go back again.

  • Hope you get a chance to head out there sometime!

  • Good stuff bro!

  • Thanks, Aaron!

  • Looks like you had a great day!

  • Yep, it's certainly a great museum to visit!

  • Awesome video there Nick!! Action packed day for sure!!

  • Thanks very much, Turner! Yep, it sure was. I hope to return again very soon!

  • Thank you, Jean!

  • Amazing catches! I heard what sounds like a gorgeous RS5T in the background at 5:13, do you know which locomotive that was on?

I got to do Throttle Time on the Canadian National FPA-4 No. 6789 in May 2006, it was a blast!

  • Thanks!

During the entire day, railfans were sounding off their personally owned airhorns. That's probably the RS5T that you heard in the background. A lot of horns were heard, such as RS3K's, RS5T's, M3's, M5's, Prime 920's, etc.

Throttle Time sounds cool! I believe they're doing throttle time in a couple of months at the museum. I'll definitely have to look into that.

They didn't have 6789 running this time for some reason. Maybe it's in for repair or something.

  • awesome vid what was that ic central engine ? a gp -60

  • Thanks, Eric! That IC 8733 is a GP11. It was built in 1980 and donated to the Monticello Railway Museum in 2001. There's another GP11 on display at Homewood, IL.

  • That transition at 7:26 looks really cool. The trin just disappears and the steam engine rolls by lol.

  • Thanks, Zak! Yeah, it's cool how those transitions work out in Movie Maker.

  • Awesome Video!

  • Thanks, Trey!

  • beautiful classic 1980s RSK3 on the IC. probly retuned and origanl from the BN?

  • Thanks, DeVerne! Yep, definitely an RS3K from the BN days. BN was the first thought that went across my mind when I heard the horn.

  • i have to come down there to see that IC engine and hear its Burlington Northern Leslie

  • Yep, it runs trains each day. You wouldn't regret a visit to the museum. CN 6789 runs too and has a great, old-cast P5!

  • love that new Leviathan, that makes a great addition to rail events ! great video !

  • I got a model of that loco.....plastic one that is....very big.....nice job on the video :)

  • Thanks, Jeremiah! Model trains are awesome.

  • Thanks a lot! It sure does. That made the whole trip worthwhile!

  • Some very rare catches indeed.*****

  • Thanks a lot!

  • awsome video bro

  • Thanks, Kelby!

  • Awesome video Nic 5*****

  • Thanks, Guido!

  • Awesome shots!

  • Thanks, Ben!

  • I love how clean all your equipment is. I went to a railway museum in Danbury, CT a year and a half ago and more than half of the equipment was on the verge of rusting away. More of a junk yard than a museum lol. BTW do they use that steam generator unit? I've never seen it on other tourist lines.

  • Yeah, the folks at MRM sure do keep the locomotives looking nice. It's nice how they sometimes have that "new" look to them.

The steam unit is only on display for now. They're hoping that in the future, they can have it up and running.

  • Glad you enjoyed my hometown rail museum

  • Thanks! It was definitely a lot of fun!
