the point of paddle shift atuo gearbox is the speed of it. a manual 6 speed greabox might be better if you could change gears as fast as the auto does. vw's dsg transmissions change gears in 300 miliseconds. this is surely faster. no human can do that...

I believe the NFS model is based on the 2007 prototype design, the 2009 prototype design you see here is a redesigned response to the lookwarm comments Lexus received from the public eye. Also they needed some aero changes in their car to hit their top speed target. I have no idea if they hit that target though.

one thing you need to realize is that going from concept to prototype to production is a VERY long process.

i don't get why everybody is seeing this as a very long time. every car you see out on the road too as long as this. the new Camaro's concept was unveiled in 2006 and is NOW a production car. the E92 M3 took a little over 3 years to develop. the Mercedes-Benz SLS Gullwing AMG has been in development since late 2007. i can go on and on, but i think you got the picture by now.

they've redesigned everything except for the greenhouse. the one you saw last year was the LF-A Prototype. a car usually goes through 3 stages before it becomes production.

take a look at the current Lancer Evolution X. they went from concept to prototype, and then to production. same way with the new GT-R. if you take a look at all 3, they all look different in their own ways.

I am Toyota fan. Don't put the LF-A's fabulous high revving V10 engine in the same sentence with the autotragic slushbox that big flop disaster IS-F comes with. It is still a lock-up torque driven automatic transmission taken from LS460.

Every high-revving car is mated to a 7 speed dual-clutch manual transmission (no torque converter and electronically driven clutches) because lock-up torque converters are inherently unable to handle high-revs for extended periods of time on the race track.
