  • fuck rudds a fairy

  • History was made on this day - Australia; the first country to say, quite simply, 'Sorry' for all of our wrong-doings in the past. One word - Yet it means so much to quite literally thousands indiginous families. Broken by the will of a Racist. I cannot comprehend what it must have felt like for everyone Aboriginal watching. It takes love to say 'Sorry' to a friend - It takes courage and genuine sorryness to say 'Sorry' to an entire generation, on behalf of an entire nation.

  • im not saying sorry for something i didnt do

    does my comment make sense?

perhaps an apology from the people that did that those hundreds of years ago is more apropriate...but i doubt that will happen

  • @FlightRiley its about feeling sorry for the pain that an entire race had to live with, not semantical variable like who did it when

  • how the hell did you upload this on feb 12 2008?

  • 0:37

  • the proudest moment in australian history

  • Thank you for the uploading the video. No matter what colour our skin or what nationality we are, we are all human beings. We all experience pain, loss, sadness, happiness, health and ultimately death. Lets put aside our petty differences and remember we are all the same. Lets work together to tackle the challenges that life brings.

  • WANKER,WANKER,WANKER,WANKER,KEVIN YOU ARE A WANK

  • Makes me remember why he was elected in the first place.

It's not the same as something Obama would say, Australia isn't America and we don't have their system of government or their style of speech, but this was a very heartfelt and strong speech. I respect Rudd so much more having watched it again.

  • Good to see Paul Keating there. Must have been a big day for him too. Remember he kicked this off in Redfern 1992. A great man.

"respect rather than a thinly veiled contempt" - looks at the liberal party =]

  • This apology was long overdue and just the BEGINNING as far as true reconciliation in Australia is concerned. Thank you Mr Rudd for apologising on behalf of all Australians, a very important and poignant moment in the history of this beautiful country.

  • I laugh me broken. The whole Commenweath has however, thus a lot of mud in being. Even the queen would have had to apologise how much death it gave in English wars in the history. It is for me still about the question, why the Britten and other Europeans took the right to occur in other countries, and to rob them

  • this apology has nothing to do with the english empire and the invasion of australia but with the devistating decision the australian parlement made in the past. The Stolen generations has nothing to do with britain or europe. The english parlement even thought at the time that it was an inhuman thing to take kids away from their parents.

  • Come on guys, what's with all this anger? Let's not fight - be gentle. This is not a white man, 'a left wing' or a christain apologising to a 'hypersensitive' black generation. This is just a man saying sorry to a country. Admitting as a human being that he has heart and that the country too has heart. That we are all humane enough to love one another. And that's what we should do. It's important that if you want to see change, to first see change in yourself. Permit love and friendship.

  • Christian Europeans don't have a right in the world to exist. No one in the world has done the atrocities that they have done. They have enslaved over 100 million Africans of which only 10 million survived the boat trip to America. They also wiped over 20 million indigenous Americans and Australians with their evil colonialism and disgusting diseases. They are the most greedy and evil son of a bitches on the planet. Not to mention what they did in the Asia.

  • Thanks for This! I Onlu watched half on TV

  • This is so fantastic that the Australian government is doing this. Now it would be great if the US would do this to apologize for over 150 years of slavery of Africans, and over 250 years of mistreatment and unjustices to African Americans. Bill Clinton was the first US president to come close, but backed down after criticism from his conservative colleagues.

  • You can't just take away someone's country

and expect there Great grand children to be all cool with it. Would you want your Great grand children to go through the same. sadly the majority of australians can't do a f-ing thing about it, perhaps this is the devils way of making GOD fearing people into sinners, just leave them with the impression that it's up to the gov't to safe your soul!

    THOU SHALL NOT STEAL!

  • take away someone's country?I belive when white people came to this country we built it together and now should learn to live together

  • This could go pear shaped i mean like for the economy, like good on Rudd for apologising but yer this might back-lash in shit loads of court cases, i was readin the paper, 100,000 minimum people part of the "stolen generation", minimum $500,000 compo, is $50,000,000,000 all up, i mean i'm all for moving ahead together, but if it means people using this as an excuse to be greedy then was it worth it, just becuase you get money doens't change what happened

  • It's good they finally got an apology. Does anyone know if this has happened in the United States? Like with the Indians? Because I know they own alot of casinos for some reason, is this in part due to an apology they recieved?

  • Nope not really... them owning casinos is pretty much adopting a vice that America has given them, not a virtue. And then most Americans have the audacity to believe that they can call it even with the Natives since they now have a piece of the "American Dream"... In short, no apology has been given but I do wish America would

  • See part 2.

  • @mercer8990 part one opening few sentences... idiot

  • @mercer8990 u bitch this speech chNGED THE NATION FROM OUR PAST AND THE FUTURE FOR ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDERS

    shame on u

  • Respond to this video... my post jusy before was to the guy who is named mercer8990

  • Is it possible for aboriginals to sue the AUS gov. for compensation in personal cases?

  • There's been a case of this in Victoria already.

  • I'm so happy i voted for him :D my first vote ever too :D. Wierd feeling... to actually be content with your country's leader... i could get used to this.

  • Thank you for uploading this video. This is one of the greatest days in Australian History. A step in the right direction.. Thank you Prime Minister Rudd.

  • i agree entirely

  • I'm so happy that I'm alive to witness this brilliant moment in Australian History. It's beautiful...just beautiful.

    Good work, Rudd!

  • learn how to spell first

and hey he did not apologize for you, he apologized for all the decent Australians

  • love the tie

  • Thank you very much for uploading this video! Much appreciated! This is a momentous event in Australian history!

  • what do you mean?

  • Hear! Hear!

  • Thank you and well done KR

I am sorry and disgusted by the actions of my ancestors. Cannot imagine what it must feel like.

Wish you all the best and may this be a positive step forward with many more to come.

  • here here!

  • great stuff!!

  • historic speech, historic moment for all mankind. australia is making history today. congratulations to mr.kevin rudd, thank you, dasuthna to upload it.

  • Maybe you wrote this for attention and aren't really the moron you appear to be. On behalf of the world, I forgive you...

  • you're a fuckin asshole! because of people like you there's hatred in this world

  • Hatred is inherent in all humanity. We just need to suppress it.

You, for example, hate people who are intolerant or racist :P

That's not very tolerant and forgiving of you, now is it?

  • I agree, but our fathers and grand fathers reduced them to that.

  • I think the apology is the government's excuse for discontinuing giving handouts. :P

If people ask for money they can say "we've already apologised for that" and they have no case.

They can't afford to keep paying out anyway, since they signed the kyoto protocol and they're losing money like an atheist bookstore in texas.

  • hey i am glad to be alive to hear and if not this generation then the next. let us be friends now not bigoted idiots of the past. no nationality (including aboriginal) deserves to be stolen from families. not one bro or sis should be stolen from there mum or dad.

i am a single dad, i know how it feels.

well done Australian voters, and too bad liberal voters

  • This is not a case of "someone else's actions". It is the same parliament now as then. This is not a man saying sorry for the wrongs of his grandfather. This is a government saying sorry for the wrongs of the parliament.

  • well said.

  • Yes governments have made wrong decisions in the past. He apologised because some of these wrong decisions resulted in wrongs against the people, not because he was excited. Governments should perhaps get into the habit of apologising more often.

  • Won't that make every apology less meaningful?

  • I wouldn't think so if they are genuine. However, if apologies are not followed by action then they will start to look like lip-service. i.e. yes in that case.

  • I was down at Martin Place watching it on the big screen - so glad someone was smart enough to record it and upload it! Thanks so much.

  • Awesome, Rudd. This is truly a remarkable day for the entire nation and every Australian.

Thank you for the upload :)

  • @IntenseApathy you're a fag

  • Glad someone recorded the full length speach by Rudd - I missed it this morning and all the replays only seem to include the first 3 or 4 minutes.

Excellent stuff - good on ya Rudd
