Morricone ain't bad here, but nothing compared to Zacepin, the whole story is so much more poignant with Zacepin's music. Too bad his version is not known outside of Russia. Lucky Russians
It's a common Soviet -Italian production. The original music was composed by excellent Russian composer Alexander Zacepin. But it was only in the Russian release of this movie. Italian producers decided to change the soundtrack to more famous composer's tracks - Morricone. IMHO it's a great mistake! Zacepin's music is more dramatic and memorable!
@elfiya Thanks! actually they were both original. Producer Franco Cristaldi had Ennio Morricone write the music for the international edition. Unfortunately Zacepin's (Zatsepin) version isn't as well known since it was released specifically for Russia and is also quite beautiful.
Agree...I actually rank this (the love theme) as #1, title theme from Once Upon a Time in the West #2, Ecstasy of Gold (from the Good, The Bad and The Ugly) as #3, Gideon's Oboe (The Mission) #4....#5-10 (maybe): Marco Polo, Secret of the Sahara, Il tramonte, Deborah's Theme, It triello...finale of Once Upon a Time in the West, or Man with a Harmonica, etc
Film struggente , un capolavoro. Musica divina.

It's not an original soundtrack. Listen to Alexander Zacepin's soundtrack (1969) and you'll find his music is much more dramatic.

This is the ending of the movie, right? I love this! They always cut this part out when they show the movie on television.
Absolutely breathtaking.

Yes, it is the ending. When I think Nobile is asked to let things (and the dead jury) pass. And dream....

Probably in the top 5 of his best compostions (in my opinion!) Thank you for the post.
