  • If all you do is racing from a dig and short tight tracks then go GTR. If you do alot of highway racing or fast tracks then go vette.. Or better yet buy what you like best and dont comlain about what the other guy likes. GTR is a great car.. the Vette is great car. People would be happy if they had either one..

  • ok, the vette is a muscle car & the gtr is a performance car, two COMPLETELY different concepts. Muscle cars are good mainly in drag racing, and performance cars can snap your neck in corners (just watch the top gear review of the GTR lol) so it kinda depends on whether you prefer raw horsepower for straight line acceleration or power & handling for corners.

  • Seriously, why would anyone compare a R35 GT-R to a ZR1? R35 has 480BHP stock, ZR1 has 638BHP stock. R35 is 3800lbs and ZR1 is 3352lbs. Furthermore the R35 is much cheaper than the ZR1. Give this comparison a rest people. there are people who loves the GT-R for good reason. besides, this is a R35 video, if ZR1 fanboys hate R35 so much just dont watch the video. Period.

  • "1llest8" Oh I'm not sure about ~100 times, but I heard a lot of situations where the GT-R R35 tranny went out after 7~10 launches usually, and after the first few launches the car goes on a limb. The GT-R R35's tranny is weak, and since you used launch control, which voids the warranty that means you lose 20K automatically for replacement of tranny.

  • Corvettes are actually very good bang for buck...starting at $67,000 CAD and 430 hp...there isn't alot out in the $67,000CAD price range that will own a base corvette. The ZR1 starting at $128,000 CAD still a great deal since it will destroy alot of cars that are way more expensive...the interiors of the corvettes kinda fall short...feels a little cheap-ish.

  • yes interiors are cheap but if you spend 500.000 for a mc laren and its slower than the zr1... i think you be more stupid... and i think that if you buy a zonda or a carrera or anything so expensive i'd rather use 10.000 or 20.000 $ to change zr1 interiors... so its cheaper faster and better inside...

  • if you're comparing purely on a performance level, then hell, I'd get a Supra, drop like 30-40 grand in it and rape the living daylights out of the ZR1 or most of the other supercars for that matter but cars like the F1, zonda, etc. have rarity and beauty that you can't compare to the ZR1...not to mention....the McLaren F1 is NOT slower than the ZR1...it is actually faster but just handles worse.

  • for a corvette you pay for the motor, for a MC Laren and the other luxury cars you pay for everything else , Quiality , Desing, style, prestige and a lot of thigs more that a corvette don't have, and don't talk about how the ride feels in your hand.   • "xitup1" Yes, I agree the ZR1 is hard to launch, but I disagree that the GT-R R35 gets 3.3 seconds always. Using launch control voids the warranty, and using it more than ~3 times puts your car on limb mode. Also after 5~10 launches with launch control the tranny will get go down, and it will cost you 20K to replace because you voided the warranty.

    My point is you won't be getting 3.3 all the time, its not possible for it to keep it that stable for that much launches.

    Uhh actually the ZR1 does 0-60 in 3.3, which is about the same as the GT-R 0-60 3.3 and for the GT-R to get 3.3 it needs to use Launch Control? While the ZR1 don't need to use shit. ZR1 is faster on the 1/4 mile, and the Nurburgring. The ZR1 is a faster car for nearly only 6K~20K more.

  • The ZR1 is insanely hard to launch and actually get the rear tires to hook up...most reviewers with professional drivers had a hard time launching it without ridiculous wheel spin. The launch control on the GT-R pretty much guarantees 3.3 second 0-60s every time.

  • to be honest i dont find the zr1 to be special. i dont think of it as an engineering masterpiece, more like a supped up corvette with extensive use of a parts catalog.

    What makes the gtr special is that it has four seats, its more comfortable, it costs less, and its underpowered and weighs much more than a zr1. though all of downsides its still mentioned in the same light with a 640 hp 3k lbs carbon fiber monster.

  • Only 1% of the cars in the USA had a transmission failure. All newly released cars have issues. Nissan did what any other car company would have done in this economy. They went the cheapest route to fix the issue. The software has remedied the problem. Don't hate on the car because of 1 issue.

  • Well, not really, this car was supposed to be a bargain and the reason you bought a GT-R was because it was an "affordable supercar", it offered 911 Turbo performance for much less money, if you add 20k to it and the fear of actually using it and breaking it, IMO it's just better to get a 911, and now ZR1

  • Break often? Nissan says about 15-20 cars have been affected, out of 1500, with people abusing launch control. That doesn't sound like "break often" to me.

  • How about the fact that the moment you disable VDC you void warranty, and you can't launch the car with VDC on. And what is "abusing" can you define how does one abuse launch control?

  • NO, the warranty is NOT voided the second you turn VDC off. Jeez... It's only voided if something breaks WHILE vdc was off AND it was a result of it being off, like launch control. Once again, DON'T spread rumors.

  • Also, the warranty in question is only for the transmission, and not anything else on the car.

  • Abusing means launching often, as in several times over a short period of time. If you launch it once a week, chances are your car is ok. If you launch is three times a day, then pay up.

    "Well I just personally called and spoke to some of the GTR team leaders/ Quality assurance. And was told tell everyone to read their owners manual, and follow the guide lines in the owners manual and warranty booklet. As it states in the owners manual do not turn off the VDC, driving with the VDC off can/will negate your warranty"

    "to activate the launch controll you have to turn off the VDC, and @ traning in vegas they told us anything that happens while the vdc is off wont be covered"

    "if the vdc off for 1 sec or driving the car with the vdc on but rev the motor high (within limits set by nissan) will void your warranty."

  • I agree to a point. You can say the same about any AWD car that has been "race launched". Look at the Eclipse GSX, how many of those tranys do you see breaking? Does it happen? Sure, but you never heard about it. Take the 3000GT VR-4. It also weighs 4100 lbs and granted it doesn't have 500+hp BUT a 4500 RPM launch on a 4100lb car is closely the same when it has enough power to spin all 4 tires till the turbos spool and never once, has Mitsu turned down the repair. Why can't Nissan do it?

  • Why are people still crying about the tranny issues that Nissan HAD. They made a software revision on the launch and now you can launch the car freely.. and according to MT it's pretty much the same as the old launch without all the pressure on the transaxle.

  • Ok ill tell you the reason why. Anytime you launch off a dual clutch this way it voids the warranty...why you ask? Simple! Because doing so puts the trans under an excessive amount of force and heat it wasnt designed to handle.

    Now will it break the trans on the first try...probably not. But if you do it repeatedly yes your gonna burn it up. Thats why they put handy dandy sensors in the car that warn you when it gets to hot. Just dont be an idiot with it and you should be fine.

    I own a gtr and every says "oh you are gunna void the warranty" only if it is excessively used

  • Abuse on any duel clutch system regardless of the manufacturer "voids the warranty". A good example is Porsche's new PDK system. There is a difference between USE and ABUSE, besides the systems lets you know when its too hot to use.
