@RedDawnIsBreaking I think the chronology of the drawing is wrong. It was the time Eddard stark was beheading some deserter from the Night watch. I have read the 5 books of A Song of Ice and Fire and I haven't encountered that scene close to that except on what I've said earlier.

The only thing I can think of is when Robb beheads the traitor who kills the prisoners - I don't like spoilers for people - but once again I think that is at Riverrun and he probably uses a sword. And Robb is huge.

@feonor26 The general consensus is that Lyanna died giving birth to Jon Snow, but as this is complete speculation no-one could tell you exactly. Rhaegar may have raped and killed her, but judging by the character that he was the former sounds the likeliest and the latter is just Robert's anger. Hope that helps.

The Family itself is loving and they welcome in their hostage as another brother and aside from Lady Stark, Jon Snow is loved by his other five siblings. All of the Stark Children afford one another great affection (and without the incest of other houses) and the brothers love each other (unlike the Baratheons).
As for Eddard, sure he was honorable, loyal noble, etc., etc. But what does all that nobility get you when it's made you so freaking proud that you are blinded to all the treachery around you?

Thing is, he's not cut out for all the petty backstabbing that goes on in politics. Eddard is used to settling things like men of honor. Besides you forget the Martells - a close family but torn apart by treachery, or the Tyrells a close family as well, Stannis is the only Baratheon disliked by his brothers and that is due to circumstance in his childhood - Robert fostered with JA and therefore being closer to Ned. The Starks are just on, unlike the rest.
The thing I regret the most is that I didn't start reading the series before watching the TV series. Then I would've felt like I was privy to a huge secret. Now I have to share it with millions of others. :P
wow i just started book 2 (16th chapter, bran) and this video depicts my senses exactly. couldnt make some of the pictures (golden armor guy?), but all and all, one of the best videos. specially the theme, when the"heavy" part comes with the battle images. I've been attracted to Fantasy since a young age, my brother played a lot of AD&D so I'd spend hours going through his Monsterous Manuals (I think that's what they were called. He tried to get me to read the Hobbit, but I never got into it. Nor Feist, Gemmel, Jordan or Brooks. The best I could find was the Talisman by Stephen King & Peter Straub and the Dark Tower series. This is by far the best aSoIaF video about. Not only have you selected an great track, you have perfectly timed the images shown to match the music. My favourite examples are 0:45, 1:27, 3:50, 4:43 to 5:18, and 5:43. It is very rare to see a video that captures the emotion of a series of books so well. Actually, I don't think it is. In the background is one of the Stark children with a direwolf and they didn't find the pups until they were on the way back from the execution. Also, Ned used his sword - Ice - to dispatch the deserter, not an axe, hence the irony of his own fate at the end of GoT. Oh, and the execution was in the town square, not in the woods. Got to admit, this pic is a bit of a mystery to me, unless it's from AFFC which I haven't read yet...
@d1974 lol, yeah that's the same rule I have. I was fortunate to be born after Frank Herbert finished the Dune books, so I could read them now all in one take without having to wait for the next book to come out.

This is by far the best aSoIaF video about. Not only have you selected an great track, you have perfectly timed the images shown to match the music. My favourite examples are 0:45, 1:27, 3:50, 4:43 to 5:18, and 5:43. It is very rare to see a video that captures the emotion of a series of books so well. You've said in one of your comments that this song was your personal soundtrack for the series, well thanks to this video, its now mine as well. I can only congratulate and thank you for the video

Actually, I don't think it is. In the background is one of the Stark children with a direwolf and they didn't find the pups until they were on the way back from the execution. Also, Ned used his sword - Ice - to dispatch the deserter, not an axe, hence the irony of his own fate at the end of GoT. Oh, and the execution was in the town square, not in the woods. Got to admit, this pic is a bit of a mystery to me, unless it's from AFFC which I haven't read yet...

@d1974 lol, yeah that's the same rule I have. I was fortunate to be born after Frank Herbert finished the Dune books, so I could read them now all in one take without having to wait for the next book to come out.
