Don't even get me started on the "Castlevania: Lament of Innocence VS Castlevania: Lords of Shadow" debate, let alone a "Castlevania (Iga) VS Castlevania (David Cox/Kojima)".
Ok but Lament of Innocence is still a classic regardless. Still a great game. Lament of Innocence didn't have to have the production values of Lords of Shadow to be great. And besides, comparing Lament of Innocence to Lords of Shadow is like comparing apples and oranges. 2 completely different products from 2 completely different universes of the Castlevania name.
Before I beat this game for the first time, I actually thought the "King who wields the Crimson Stone" was going to be Rinaldo...if that happened instead of Mathias, I would've thought it was hilarious!

Is there any NAME for the track that plays while Mathias tells Leon of his reasonings? I can tell its a slowed down version of Leon's theme, but does it exist outside of that scene? because its so powerful right there.
The most awesome scene in the entire game. From the writing, to the music, to the incredible voice acting despite the usual localization problems. It's epic, and made the entire game worth playing just to get a glimpse of Dracula's origin of his evil motives.
So Death is pretty much the supernatural being in this story, more powerful than Dracula himself, its just whoever holds that stone he becomes their sex slave, hyuk hyuk

This is interesting how the Ebony and the Crimson Stones contrast with their owners. Walter Bernhard has passession of the Ebony Stone, and his clothes are predominantly red. Mathias Cronqvist has possession of the Crimson Stone, yet his clothes are predominantly black.
Mathias fails for helping his friend create a weapon that kicks major vampire ass.
But the two things I like about this game is that Mathias looks really similar to Alucard and the pact between Sara and Leon, which is the reason why only the blood of Belmont can use the VK (or supposed to anyway).
actually, what it really is is this: because sara and leon have a pact in this game that anyone whose not a decendant of a belmont cannot use the whip to its full potential while suffering from another effect: the weapon drains the life force out of someone whose not a belmont while a belmont can use it to its full potential without being killed slowly.

If you think about it, Mathias/Dracula is actually pretty sympathetic.
He gave up his humanity to spite God for taking his wife, then a few centuries later humanity takes his wifes reincarnation, Lisa, from him.
His methods are extreme, but deep down beneath all his anger and hatred, it's his love for his wife that's caused him to do this.
Nothing hurts more then losing the one you love with every fiber of your being.

The most awesome scene in the entire game. From the writing, to the music, to the incredible voice acting despite the usual localization problems. It's epic, and made the entire game worth playing just to get a glimpse of Dracula's origin of his evil motives.

This is interesting how the Ebony and the Crimson Stones contrast with their owners. Walter Bernhard has passession of the Ebony Stone, and his clothes are predominantly red. Mathias Cronqvist has possession of the Crimson Stone, yet his clothes are predominantly black.

But the two things I like about this game is that Mathias looks really similar to Alucard and the pact between Sara and Leon, which is the reason why only the blood of Belmont can use the VK (or supposed to anyway).

actually, what it really is is this: because sara and leon have a pact in this game that anyone whose not a decendant of a belmont cannot use the whip to its full potential while suffering from another effect: the weapon drains the life force out of someone whose not a belmont while a belmont can use it to its full potential without being killed slowly.

Leon was the first Belmont and the foundator of the Belmont clan as Vampire Hunters, after Leon comes Sonia, Trevor's Mother but it's not canon anymore =S

Yes, as we saw in the game n_n (well, I read the story and watch the cutscenes).
Leon was the first to wield the Vampire Killer, Rinaldo just give Leon a whip with magical-alchemical properties, but Leon and Rinaldo make the whip Holy using Alchemy to fuse Sara's soul with the whip, making the Vampire Killer this way. n_n

wait, now I get it, since Dracula was actually Mathias, Leon killed Walter, not Dracula meaning Trevor killed Dracula first but Simon was the first Belmont featured in Castlevania if you played Castlevania on NES, you would recognize him as the Belmont with the bad back and Simon was the grandfather of Juste who was born 50 years after Simon vanquished Dracula somewhere between the first game and Harmony of Dissonance.

Yes, Simon was the first Belont featured in Castlevania games, but in the IGA's ideal timeline, Leon (who lived in the 11th century) was the first Belmont to wield the Vampire Killer and the foundator of the Belmont clan as Vampire Hunters.
