Again Andy comes up with really interesting lyrics that are somewhat subversive yet tell the truth and yes this is a really great album but I had to listen to it about ten or fifteen times before it caught on with me!
Only have an old copy pf "Look Look", the first video I bought. (must get more). Anyone notice on Look Look that they not only use different guitars & basses on each song, but drums also!
Low budget video witha few good ideas and a tarkovskj/Bergman look. NOT one's idea of a single in the 80ies and as usual NOT so good. Why are XTC a great songwriter-musical band a nd so poor on the video front. Very 'english schoolboy sherbert-fountain ang Gob-stopper wry?!
apparently XTC, particularly Andy, weren't that impressed with their videos either. They tended to have little input, though naturally Andy had loads of ideas, which were ultimately rejected or watered down by either Virgin, or the Director(s). The only promo's they were happy with was the "Dukes" vids. Read "Song Stories" or "Chalkhills & Children" (2 excellent tomes) to hear their thought's on their Promos. Cheers
Great to see some fellow fans agreeing with me (at last !!) All their videos are top class, I just wish we could get them all on a DVD with great sound & vision.
I'm guessing, personally, the reason is because even though some of them might look good to us, they don't match the vision he had for them which were usually far too 'bizarre,' creative and fabulous for Virgin to handle. Just look at the storyboards for 'King for a Day' they look amazing but obviously when it came to doing the actual version, even though we might like it, it's still far less amazing than he'd planned for
I love this song! So good to see the video. Thank you for posting it and all the other XTC gems you have provided! You're a good man albert brown! Holla!
thank you

I had no idea there was a video for this song. Of course I seem to realize this about many XTC clips. Its so grim yet awesome! :))

Thanks smegski...
Saw Buzzcocks last night here in Buenos Aires... pretty honest and good. Twice the speed of the original songs!

This is an awesome, albeit disturbing number. So glad to see a video was conceptualized for it.

Wow, I didn't know a video was made for this rather obscure song...
But it really fits the song very well. It conjures the kind of images I had in my mind while listening to this.

I don't get why he says that. I don't have ANY problem with ANY xtc video! They are all fun and creative.

....And Andy says they never made any good videos (cough, cough 'Grass,''All You Pretty Girls.') This is beautiful.

In Virgin's defense this song is NOT a single. It's actually one of my least favorite XTC songs. But come on...this is no single.

This is what the whole Mummer project was about, Magic stuff, The band wanted this to be a single but as usual Virgin shit themselfs !!!
