  • Great videos! When were you at the Rocky Branch #2 shelter? I was there this summer, august 15th or 16th

  • @needtowant You didn't miss us by much. We were there during the first week of of August 2011. Can't wait to go back! Although I've been itching to give the mid-west a go as well for our next hike of this length.

  • that was brilliant - really enjoyed it! Stunning views and looks like you had a great time. I live in Ireland so I don't see views like that - all i see is a lot of fields and sheep!

  • @cazscott1 Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. We should trade plane tickets some time, I'd love to see Ireland as well! I guess the sheep aren't terribly entertaining after a while though. Kind of like squirrels over here... :)

  • @sintax77 lol that would be class - don't think I've ever seen a squirrel! If you go for anymore hikes like this again - do another wee video, it was a great watch! I'll be out lots this summer so I'll try and do one...then you'll see how much more awesome your country side is!! :-)

  • what's the gun for? wild animals? or dangerous people?

  • @tiehut Both. More realistically for the two legged predators, since there aren't too many neighborhood cops around to help you out in the wilderness. And while the .40 cal round is FAR from an ideal defense against bear or moose, trust me it still helps you sleep better. -Just like it does at home :D

  • @sintax77 you must be a veteran. i am an army veteran and do not feel comfortable in the woods without a firearm.

  • @tiehut Not a veteran myself, but I have much respect for them. I'm just an average civy who prefers to be cautious and prepared. But I do have to admit I'm relieved to find we're of a similar mind-set. When I first saw your post I was afraid this was going to turn into one of those threads were I have to defend my use of the second amendment. Which surprisingly hasn't happened yet, lol.

  • hey nice video mate quick question where and how have you mounted the camera?

  • @brownie2420 It was filmed with a single Flip Mido HD that I kept in the front hip pocket of my backpack for quick access. I also had it attached to a mini 5 inch flexible tripod (GorrilaPod). This was left on mostly for some additional stability during handheld shots, since the Flip is almost TOO small and subject to shaking. Other than occasionally sitting the tripod down, it's all handheld shots.

  • Great vid. Thanks for the hard work and for sharing.

  • Great mini-movie! I'm prepping for a thru-hike NOBO on the AT in March. Can't see enough hiking vids!!! Thanks for sharing your hike. I enjoyed watching.

  • @TammyLoves2Read Nice, sounds like fun. I would love to give NOBO a shot some day, but getting away for that length of time is a bit of a challenge right now. Some day though. Good luck with the Appalachian trail prep!

  • Great job capturing the spirit of the hike! I felt like I was there. Thanks for taking the time to film your adventure

  • @desertcajun Thanks, it was an awesome experience and I'm glad it came across. Luckily I had a solar USB charger to keep my little Flip Mino camera alive. We recently invested in some upgraded camera and editing equipment, so there should be some more fun hiking and camping videos in the pipeline.

  • Great video, love hiking for day. A warm shower is always welcome at the end though. :)

If you are interested, in something smaller White Mountain Hikes; Legends, Mysteries and More is available at Amazon. You can borrow it from the library for free.

  • @lindaward1966 Thanks, I'll have to grab the library card and check that out. Glad you enjoyed the video, there's more to come...

  • @27:30 The missing hiker.

  • Awesome hike & video

  • That's a hell of a hike.I go up there all the time...im gonna check the map and do a rt like that.got some good girls there that will do that.

  • Very impressive trip! I wonder if the baby would like to go hiking....

Any ideas how many miles you covered?

  • @maybesparrow99 Our original plan was to cover around 8 miles a day, but it ended up closer to only 5 per day (a little deceptive - a lot of it was straight up and down with no real distance made!). Plus the last day on Mt Washington was pretty relaxed, so probably a total mileage in the 20ish area. We tried to achieve a good blend of enjoying the surroundings and making ground, and I think we accomplished that. Besides, we want the wives to actually come back! :)

  • Wow, what a hike! And a great video capture of it!

  • My wife is funny when she found her blueberries. Special girl she is. Everyone take note not to use last water for coffee. LOL. If I could I would have hiked back to the car instead of the train. Unfortunately my job needed me to come back to them. Great trip!
