  • Excellent video, Just ignore the unnecessary and unneeded negative comments. Sadly there will always be those of lesser talent with noting better to do than criticize the efforts of others. They will eventually figure out they should had dedicated more time to practicing with their hands rather than their mouths.

Thank you so much for sharing.Namaste (The light in me; honors the light in you)

  • @BionicSam This video is for helping guitarists with an approach to scale practice- If you do not need or can not use the information to your benefit then it would be most wise to move on without sounding like a hater and adding unneeded negativity into the world of cyberspace.

It s my true hope that you can play all the notes as cleanly and as beautifully as you desire. I look forward to your hearing your music.

  • excellent video, quick question, how high is your action on the guitar? and what height would you advise, because i recently bought a cheap classical guitar and was astounded when i measured the action at 5mm!!!!! which makes it nearly impossible to play solo's from the 10 fret onwards. thanks

  • Thanks! It helps me a lot.

  • cut-your-nails

  • Im learnin both electric and acoustic to keep from getting bored w one or the other i can only learn as fast as my coordination will allow me - i must say this vid regardless of ur freakn nails and or what notes u hit and how good or bad they sound (and all was great in my opinion) i think this was an extremely valuable lesson in my progression w both guitars and its FREE. Thankyou PEACE

  • @dirteewhiteboy Thanks for the nice comment- and I'm glad it helps

  • @marcsiegelmusic

    you r damn good boss

u play awsome can u give me some tip @ fingerpicking?????

  • are thoes your rail nails or fake ones and y do people grow there nails when they play classical guitar?

  • not sure, but I know it's a practice to cut ping pong balls to shape, then adhere them to the nail with an acrylic resin

  • Hi, nice practice method. I am a beginner guitarist and i find this one a good challange to gain speed! Thanks.

  • for me the beeping noise sounds bad they should make a beeping one that sounds more better i think

  • very scary thumb.

  • @abeismain i try to keep my thumb nail trim but not too long because i also play the piano. but that length is good if you play alzapua a technique used in flamenco.

  • that looks painful, that cant feel good on your nails... good playing though

  • very cool man. thanks!

  • i wish i new how to read music lol, could you explain to me why scales are important, i've played for awhile and scales are still very wired for me. The way i play guitar is by tabs and ear, i don't have any music theroy or no the notes on the guitar at all.

  • Example: Scales allow you to be familiar with a key so you can play lead. Chords are based on scales. Music is all about intervals and timing. Scales are basic for any instrument (and voice). The better you are at them the more proficient you will be.

  • You hit every third note in your 'high speed'...

  • @Marko021guitar- you may be correct but those "every third notes" are nice are they not?

  • @Marko021guitar Youre wrong! he is ''accenting'' on the 3rd note so the ear hears the dominate note being played. he is clearly hitting EVERY note CLEARLY!

  • Pick the right instrument: Why?How?The classical guitar is a imperfect instrument: The1st: You will raise your left leg up for the position then your blood circulation is blocked you will feel tire for the next hour. The 2nd: Your left hand has the same problem with your left leg.The 3rd:Your right hand thumb is easily too close to the i m a fingers then you will need a lot of time to correct it. The 4th:your guitar is a short range instrument or calls limited instrument~! So,PLAY THE PIANO~!!

  • @alien0513

Lol you`re not going to make me argue. No, I wont fall for your atempt troll. Instead i will laugh at your ignorance: Ha ha!

  • its great the way you broke it down in to segments, but it dosent sound clean when you play it fast, i cant hear each note, some of them sound muffled and slightly unco-ordinated

  • Take what you like- if it helps great... leave the rest. God Bless

  • Hi there, this is a great use of scale practise. People dont criticize, and learn from this guy. Remember among other things, to check out his hand positions both fretted and picking hands. As far as nails, I have long nails and play all types of guitars and styles. Incl picking, using a pick in my thumb and forefinger and picking with the others etc. Experience and learn all styles and find what is god for you.

Great work look forward to more.

  • cool...

  • Thanks for your scale exercise demonstrations. They are very helpful.

  • hey...i wish i can grow nails....but the problem is my school doesn't allowed it..it's the law at the school(cannot keep nails growing like that...)so sad though, because i love finger picking.....

  • You can do it without nails. Esp on classical guitar.

  • you can use fake nails for the time being...

  • what was that?

  • can you be more specific?

  • vampire nails! bleh bleh!

  • i really wanted this to be helpful but i cant stop looking at his nails : (

  • Always wanted a nice flamenco guitar. So fucking expensive...

  • Seriously:

the metronome hinders a well-articulated legato "flow of sounds" to emerge (with a nice dynamic bow)

your produced tone is not nice (try angling your hand, or use the free stroke; or shorten the nails somewhat - because here they are hooking the string, rather than gliding)

  • Satirically (please excuse):

Yes! I can hear how lyrical your playing is, because of the metronome!

So connected, and musical. Such great tone. So smooth.

  • Cool what about free stroke scales? The flamenco guitar style uses the rest stroke, but what about the classical free stroke scales that are used in a lot of renaissance pieces?

  • A dah dah dah

  • do you guys use your nails to pluck?

  • @lalalala779 yes

  • What are scales for. Why do people play scales. What role do they play?

  • Usually when you play a song, you play it entirely in one scale. The chords of the song and the lead parts, along with the other instruments usually stay in the same scale. For instance if the rythym guitar is playing in the key of A minor, the lead guitar will usually play in A minor as well. When writing the lead part, the lead will use the notes in A minor. Practicing scales will make writing and improvising solos easier. This is a pretty brief explanation. Try looking up scales on wiki.

  • Noob.

  • HAHA!! I'm guessing you are, since that remark. Only new once would say that...

  • Nice video, but it would be so much more helpful if you showed the fretboard and your fingering too.

  • great helpful video. Don't stop making more. Poeple who don't know anything about music shouldn't have rights to post their comments here.

  • if your talking about me, I seriously wanna know how to not break it, its kinna hard to keep mine long. And I love music, its my life.

  • THANKS FOR TEACHING! GOD BLESS!

  • i wish i knew how to read music... lol

ignore the immature comments, i let my fingernails grow out too when i feel like playing more classical sounding guitar, i hate fingerpicks. good job!

  • don't mind those haters. this vid really helped me

  • your good, im a musician too, man, i thought my thumb nail was long. yours is like an inch, mine keeps breaking.

  • thanks so much for the comment- I think my thumbnail is a little longer in this video than I normally keep it

  • having long nails is risky cuz you could get in a little accident and tear he nail off along with the flesh and it takes like a month to heal and super painful omgg

  • SeikoPsycho,

There is gel that you can get put on your nails at the parlor. I've been getting gel for the last 20 years and the nails don't break, ever!!

I can actually turn a screw with the nails.

Gel really saved my guitar playing b/c I used to work in construction and couldn't keep my nails from breaking.
