I'm 15 and if there is a modern show like this let me know. It's clean, it's funny, it's storyline are good, exciting and entertaining. What a joy this show was! If only it would have ran longer. Also, Dick Van Dyke was pretty cute back in the day. This show is timeless!
The DVD show just started back yesterday. I swear, the comedy is brilliant. Truly, and in no way OUT DATED. Real humor is timeless. If only our culture could conjure this kind of pure comedy up in a time so badly in need of relief. I see, humor stems from hearts of humility, and is a gift to man. But narcissism is so deep today that real and healing humore can't breath today. Thank you TV LAND for this wonderful treasure of comedy. Carl Reiner was brilliant.
"He turned down his cupcake! Oh my, someone call an ambulance!" hahahaha I just started watching this show last night. Never heard of this show before now and it's so funny! I haven't laughed so hard in any other show, really. It was the walnut one where him and his wife were watching a movie with Danny Thomas who had four eyes- two normal ones and two on the back of his head. It was so funny! :)
@lollypop2143 Glad you discovered it! :) It's one of the BEST shows of all time. I was around 8 when I first started watching it, and I'm still a fan. You have a LOT of other good episodes ahead of you, so ENJOY!
What I like about this series is when Rob and Laura have disagreements they talk things over and come to a solution. There's no door slamming, no yelling, no threats of divorce.
U can find EVERY episode of "Dick Van Dyke", all six seasons of it, on "hulu"- FREE! They also have episodes of "Newhart", "Mary Tyler Moore", "Rhoda", "The Bob Newhart Show", etc.
Nothing on television today can come close to classics like this. Give me the Munsters, Dick Van Dyke, Green Acres, Mr. Ed, I love Lucy, Sanford, etc anyday.
@newjean2000 It IS amazing. It's also amazing that we had sitcoms back then in which the characters were proud of being smart, flawed, employed, educated and didn't act like developmentally arrested children.
Just saw Mr. Van Dyke on Jay Leno the other night. He is 85 years old and aside from the wrinkles, white hair and beard, there's no difference. He sang "Supercalif...' whatever, and danced a little. Age has had very little affect on him.
@thatswhatshessaid Yeah same here! After watching them on Rachael Ray thought I would take a look and it's beyond my expectations. There are some really great witty lines and I just love watching retro shows and am fascinated with life in those "good ol' days" : D Will continue watching more episodes for sure.

Dick Van Dyke to Desperate Housewives... -_- TV sitcoms are dead, and im only 24. Oh how I miss oldschool TV Land, its hard to catch eps of great shows like Dick Van Dyke, The Munsters, Gilligan Island, Honeymooners etc...

Laura does NOT call Rob "John" at 12:10. She clearly says "Darling." Issue settled.

Have no idea how people are hearing "John" at 12:10. Mary Tyler Moore clearly says, "Darling," not "John."

We used to watch this show at lunch when I was in 4th grade.
&& I wanted to be EXACTLY like Laura.
