FYI to those interested. AMS.com and zZounds, com now carry Wampler and they offer a no credit check, no hassle monthly payment plan. 3 months at AMS and 4 at zZ pretty cool for those like me who have limited monthly budget to buy anything of quality.
Got the Pinnacle last week what a nice sounding pedal. I also wanted the Compressor but they were out. Next high gainer will probably be the Triple Wreck. You guys with small not so great amps will love what Wampler does to them. I think Brian engineers for little amps more so than half stackers. Pedals are just fun to mess with no matter what.
BTW, (LuiSete) ProGuitarShop (.com) has them in stock and I assume they can ship Wampler overseas, I do not know. Some makers like Fulltone cannot and will not ship overseas.
@Sebastianodelarada I was just messing w you man. These guys with the cheap ass tiny amps and the high end pedals just kill me. God I hate little amps. Size matters. Tone baby. Tone.
@SimAlex20000 yeah I have a crappy one I slapped a Pinnacle on it and it killed but it is no substitute for my half stack which actually has low end without breakup. Wattage has uses, it is not about loudness. More to tubes that just distortion.
Brian is the gain god, my quest for the best overdrives and high gainers has ended.
Now I know why that overdrive is named the Ecstasy. Don't you dare stop making that one!! Please keep the three top high gainers the Pinnacle, Plextortion and the Triple these are just unmatched pedals, I am trying to pick them up just to make sure I have them.
@foreverjimmy No, completely different, it was voiced to be more of a more modern sounding JCM900 - DSL head type of sound, the Plextortion is more of a pushed JCM800, lighter 900 tone... this was more aggressive when flat out.
I have one and it sounds bad...not enough gain for solous and its not smooth...may be I am gonna sell it....truly disappointed...mine doesn't sound as good as that...U cant't play Vai on this or Malmsteen....
@Sebastianodelarada most of the time Brian and Brett (Burgerman666) use little amps as much I hate the freakin lunch box things (unless its the Fintstone's) Malmsteen's tone does not come from a pedal. A lot depends on the amp and the guitar, a pedal can only do so much it has to have something to work with. I find fingers are pretty essential. Tell your mom you need a couple of his new signature Marshall's. At best a nice overdrive is more to the tone, I dig the Ecstasy myself. Tubes baby.
@CarvinTone I play tubes amps man and this pedal is pretty ok but by itself you can get a Vai tone out of it...as they say in the commercials...you need good cabinets and good amps.I wont tell my mom to buy me a "couple of Malmsteen's amp" couse I can play Malmsteen on a acoustic! And yeas thanks God for my finger and guess what I have 10 of them :) Measure your advices carefully... And for the rest of the guys : BUY this pedal If you have a good Marshall amp and Celestion:D
Has anyone used this pedal with a solid state amp? How does it sound?
Sometimes, I just don't have the luxury of lugging my rack and half stack along to smaller gigs so I'm at the mercy of the club and whatever amp they have. I've been forced to use solid state amps sometimes and I can tell you that not all distortion pedals play well with SS amps.
I really love the tone of the Super Plextortion but it would really help me out if anyone has any experience pertaining to my question.
I bought one bout 8 months ago and it RULES.! Anything from light crunch to full on death metal(if you hit it with another pedal) Quiet as hell. Mine is a little dark though, it could use A LOT more treble.
@sunnyguitardude Treat it just like what it wants to be.... a MARSHALL What do we put in front of Marshalls? ANYTHING!! If I put my hotcake in front as a treble/level booster the superplex reacts just like a tube amp and you get more crunch, edge and very articulate palm mutes. Think Metallica, Meshuggah, Slayer or newer Napalm Death NOT System of a Down or Godsmack--It WON'T do THAT!!
I got this one. Hasn't arrived yet, but after hearing "gearmandude" demo this and the lovepedal plexi I know this one is on another level. The purple plexi sounds lifeless and dull compared to the super plextortion, just listen to the treble sparkle!
wow, my current pedals only sound saturated/amp-like/crunchy enough when you almost blow your amp up with the output level of the pedal, when the overdrive is actually coming from the amp. Without that amount of volume, the pedals just sound like pedals. This must be the solution of having great sound at unity volume.
Just ordered mine and absolutely can't wait to get it. This sounds great and I'm hoping to get the perfect sound out of my Fender HRD Texas Red. Great clean tone and hopefully that great Marshall growl.
Hmm.. Just when I thought I decided to build the Plextortion from the ToneClone kit when it comes out, this video comes along and makes me want the Super Plextortion instead. Sounds great! I can't wait for the new kits to be available also - I hope it's not too long, or I might end up buying a couple to keep myself occupied until they do!
