Come to the University of Auckland... we are currently working with Inductive Power Transfer with distances up to 60cm lol. most undergrad electrical students are working on IPT projects for their final year projects
What frequency does this device operate at? Judging by the little pickup coil, which looks like am AM radio loop antenna, it's probably runnin at a few hundred kHz. Is that about right?
how efficient is this? i think you should take some good measurements and find out. look at the current through the coil and voltage across (you should find that the voltage across the primary will be low, but the current should be high. do the same for the secondary (instead of putting an LED use a small resistor) find the power used before and the power after, try it for different angles and distances. i would be interested in seeing the numbers
SEC of Dr.stiffler is a good experiment that you can combine with your coil. Try the rodin coil too, some ones up the systems 250% eficiency whit this coils.
The 8 shape is used to create permanent magnet holders (leedskalnin). Mix all, and share this is clue.Can you post more data?
like robotkid249 says, some more info on the 8 shaped coil would be great! Would love a pic showing the directions of the magnetic field around it and the directions of the weiring.
There bare alot of hungry ,,,NO, Thirsty people out here, there everywhere. We know that WE have been doing it wrong, missed the point in a hurry for results,, you, I, everyone who has any knowledge no matter how insignificant one might think it is,,, we need to share all the info we can in order to beat the up and coming demise of our existence, caring for one another is the only way we will survive the mess's made through this single ME mind set we have created in order to be #1

@J0nny152 "we are currently working........."
What frequency range you use? let me guess...
13,6 MHz or something similar?

Thats a cool thing. Would be nice if you can send me the schematics for this LED antenna :)

Я в школе такие собирал 30 лет назад
Это обычный трансформатор.

Simple induction but if the polarisation is incorrect it will not work.
All you need to really do is pulse current at the resonant frequency of a coil and it will work very simple kids stuff.

@xrayrep it works at about around 10-100 Mhz freq

ya man the same topic inducing of emf in the windings with magnetic flux cuting the windings
this application was invented years ago during invention of generaters and motors dear

Also check yourself on radiation. Magnetic fields are radioactive.

I got a question. How high is magnetic field?
syntax128 2 years ago
Nothing new, that was already created century ago. Try passing AC circuit through...

Yes by Nicola Tesla you're right !

@tonyrueb its 40% efficient

Sweet... Do you have anymore references on the 8 shaped coils, I would like to know a little bit more about how that works... THANKS
