all i have to say it's that there's a difference on making games "easier" and making games TOO easy and that's what games now days are some still are hard but there are others that are just too easy and their idea of higher difficulties is just making the enemies take more hits >.> that's not making them harder <.<

i think what kills gaming these days is the reliance on outside gaming engines ie unreal engine, and pretty pictures. i still think control and playability is way better than the pretty ictures on screen. madden of today is way better graphically but tecmo bowl and the earlier maddens still way more fun to play

i thought this was a great experiment. i grew up playing atari and old school arcade games, and the commodore 64. games and systems without the processing power, but al the heart and fun.

This was a nice series to see :) It's true, most kids really aren't as open-minded as Dylan is to try out games from previous generations.

And to a certain extent, you really can't expect them to when we now have almost photo-realistic graphics and then dump them into the 8-bit era.

games these days are nothing compared to the old cause the older one are way harder for instance halo you can beat in roughly 7 or 8 hours tmnt will take a good 15 hours if your good and same with most nes plus there is scores to beat and everything ealse

That's why i'm saying. Games have evolved with the audience and nobody can be a true gamer unless they get to the roots of the games that are out today. The huge difference between then and now is the style of games. Most NES games are based on pattern recognition, reflex, hand/finger coordination, timing, etc. Alot of games today make things easy like saving, etc. It's interesting to analyze how point A (then) got to point B (today)

Nice series and experiment. I wonder what other kids would think if they went through this as well. While we grew up on this stuff, they didn't, so it is nice to hear their perspective. You did a respectable job with it and while he may have sounded harsh on some things, he showed respect on others. Keep in mind guys that he is only 11, and his appreciation for this may change over time once he matures more. Great job with the video and followup on comments. :)

Games back then were harder because of the they didn't have the current "hold your hand" attitude. In the old days you had the manual to tell you what to do and that's it. It was all trial and error.

Nowadays you have the developers holding your hand at everything that could kill you. At every new obstacle you get an explanation what it is and what to do, when you learn a new move the game explains exactly how to do it. At the start of the game you have to look at or play a tutorial level.
