  • R.I.P.

    Leonora

  • I'm very interested in this story for animation use. Maybe Carrington's grandson could comment, but I'm interested if this is in public domain or not? I love the use of 16mm, the look is terrific!

  • Bolano always mentioned Carrington in his novels. Finally I had to look her up. I was startled to discover she resembles my mom (painter Christiane Pflug) in some of her Mexico City studio portraits, and like me she writes about women who have caged and masked part animal/part people friends whom they must help to free...or is that the other way around?

  • Me quedo con las letras de Carrington y la genialidad que puede lograr mi imaginación...

  • Great work man. It's awesome that surrealism and Dada are making somewhat of a comeback in our digital renaissance.

  • We're also big fans. Here's our little contribution to making her work well-known. Thanks for the movie. Saludos from Spain!

  • I'm a big fan of Carrington's. She'd probably be mostly proud of this.

  • Forgot to ask : What's the lovely dreamy music in your film?

  • "Daphnis and Chloe" by Ravel.

  • Thanks.

    A very good choice!

  • Very nice film. A tiny bit too much inspired by David Lynch/Maya Deren but nevermind, it's very pleasant to watch.

I've liked Leonora Carrington's work since I was a teenager and think you did this novella justice. Well done.

  • oh bravo

  • That is fantastic! I'm here from a link on MySpace in a friend's blog. I love the black & White effects, and the soundtrack is fab! Thanks for sharing this flick

  • They are not B&W effects, this was filmed in 16mm B&W film.

"I watched it on the big screen .... i thought that the writing was really good. It touched my heart , a classic tale of two lovers."

  • well this comment may mean the world to you or very little. I am one of Leonora's grandsons and as I am not a very objective source i will not comment directly on the video. Nevertheless I applaud your effort and I feel it is important to always keep our imagination and creativity alive if not we risk loosing much more than we realize. PS: my grandmother was much prettier than the girl in the video jeje.

  • Thank You so much for writing. The story this film is

based on is a special favorite of mine. It always puts me

in a creative and magical mood. It always delights and

shocks with the same feeling as "Un Chien Andalou."

I can only hope that we caught, if only a fragment, some

of the essence of it's surreal beauty and charm.

  • Eating the face proved to be very inspiring in the creation of a new shovelface, thank you for sharing , Sincerely A . Gardener

"I don't know how to leave comments on youtube, but this is a great short film! It has an Aesop's Fable/ 1950s Instructional Etiquette Film energy with a side order of Ed Gein. You and your friends should be proud of this.

    Well Done."

"I really liked it. It was sort of like David Lynch with a feminist undercurrent . . . above Par. Thanks for sharing it with me...

  • I always wanted to see that movie; Eric and Stephanie used to like Ric's filmmaking ideas. Outstanding makeup, I might add. Overall, a much better shot-in-Humboldt County film than, say, "Outbreak."

But did he spell Linda's last name right?

  • Big Thumbs up gang!!! oooo, just bit my moustache.....well anway, this film has it all, good makeup, good acting, great script, lighting is superb......imagine such a work in just 10 minutes......this movie couldnt have been done in coloer, dont you agree?....and I love the low-angles shots......great dark comedy.....

  • Great job on the makeup, Karin and Jen. And the mask is excellent! Great poetic little horror story.

  • "If you have a bag, I'll save them for later"...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! I thought this was entertaining, creepy and funny. good job!

  • So romantic. Super creepy maske, it made my butt pucker.

  • Yay! as I recall, we filmed it in 10 days...I still have the mask! It's nice to finally see the film 'in the flesh' so to speak. Bravo!

  • Cool Film!!
