hi i like your video but i wanna ask about my situation im here in florida and i wanna bring my gun to the philippines to shoot. do you have any idea for that?
Here's the real scoop: mGjddG5Owsc - more detailed, more accurate, and will protect ALL your stuff from the TSA thieves guild. The code is for youtube, put in after the equal sign...
YOU ARE DOING THIS COMPLETELY WRONG. Best case, take this video down. You should use a LARGE hard-sided locked container, with no smaller hard-sided case, only a soft-sided. That way you can protect ALL your stuff, not just the gun!!!
ACTUALLY, the lock should NOT be any kind of TSA-approved lock.
It should be a lock to which ONLY YOU have the key; When you declare the items, they have the option to inspect it at that point, while you are present. If they choose to, you will be present with the key...
After you check in your gun and ammo, do they go into your suitcase? If not, when you pickup your luggage, is that whey you get your gun? Now that I'm typing this, the little Glock box probably floating down the conveyor belt. So do you get your gun from a special area?
Thanks for the video. I never thought about bringing the gun when traveling, but now I may.
@rayc76knoxville No, before they send your bag to be x rayed, they ask you to fill out a declaration form, put it in your gun box and lock the box. They do not go through it again after that. If they feel they need to, they will bring the bag back to you and ask you to unlock it. They usually make me wait in the TSA area for about 5 extra minutes in case they want to do this, never have yet. You claim your luggage at the normal baggage claim.
Just a word of warning. If you every fly to the UK, be sure that you do not have any loose rounds in your luggage. It happens unfortunately and the police will take you aside and will investigate. You will likely only receive an official police caution but still, not an experience that you will want to go through.
Non-TSA locks are where it's at. TSA has this to say about locking your firearms, "A locked container is defined as one that completely secures the firearm from access by anyone other than you.". A TSA lock does not comply by definition, anyone with a TSA key can access the case. Entertaining video nonetheless...
To clarify: TSA approved locks are to be used solely to lock luggage as to ease security inspection in the absence of it's owner. For liability reasons TSA will not inspect your firearm w/out you present. Any locked gun cases in or out of your luggage need to be accessible to the owner ONLY. This is for good reason. 99.9% of the time you may not have an issue getting through security using a TSA lock on your gun case because it's overlooked. .1% and you may not fly that day w/ Mr. Blasty.
@Y3st3rd4ydr34m Different airports and different shifts do things VERY differently. I've been forced to take off non-TSA locks and put TSA locks on my hard-side case, and I've had other times where they want me to put non-TSA locks on (which is why I always carry both). And TSA will most certainly inspect a case containing a firearm without you present.
It would be VERY nice if TSA would be consistent and follow their own rules - but until they are, I just keep packing both types of locks.
@LoveTheCoast Different strokes I guess. I agree, TSA will likely inspect the contents of your gun case if you are misled into placing a TSA lock on it. As for me: hundreds of domestic flights without issue and my firearm has never been inspected without me present. I sleep well knowing that when a bag-boy takes off with my luggage, he'll at least have to saw my locks off to get my gun instead of using the TSA keyring he found on the floor of the employees only latrine. Carry policy with you =)
I feel sorry for this man. He only feels safe to carrying a firearm? What kind of country does he live in?

I don't want to sound like a penis. What if TSA employee steals your firearm? I only flew once in my lifetime, so I don't know how flying works.
