if they dont get the banks rid of these risky assets that could cause a meltdown on the global financial market. Of course inflation is bad, but what is the alternative? If we let all these financial structures go down it could bring worldwide economy to a full-stop and that is worse than a 700 billion bail-out. And remember: Gov. is probably able to sell some of these assets later on with profit once the market is secured again.

Keep up the good work Peter! I just bought some more silver and Peter's book this week. So far it's a good read and I would highly recommend it.
That said, with all of the crazy stuff going on we can't 100% predict whether the dollar will be hyperinflated like Zimbabwe's currency or become scarce (deflation) like it was in the Great Depression.
When in doubt, hedge against both scenarios. Gold & silver for the first. And a few stacks of fiat (in different currencies) for the second.

That's the first time I've disagreed with Schiff on something, and it's purely a tactical disagreement. What a joke. This is NOTHING like the S & L crisis. Why? Most of the assets in the S & L crisis were real estate — which are always going to have value - and the gov. took them over and sold them. This time, however, the assets are complex derivatives of uncertain value that the big firms will actually be selling to the government. And guess what? Most of these securities arent gonna be sold because they are still overvalued and if they are, we'll bailout Wall Streat next, which is VERY bad.

Once rates start to take off on the U.S. Treasuries, its game over. Gold will be at "many multiples" of its current price. If interest rates go up to 10% per year, what would the interest on the national debt be? Oh a trillion dollars per year...where in the hell is the government going to get that money? PRINT IT!!!
