I couldn't believe it when Bono appeared on "The Daily Show" and touted circumcision as one of a three-pronged strategy to prevent the spread of HIV. Being circumcised doesn't make you immune to HIV. It's like saying that if people aren't going to bother having safe sex, this will at least give them a fighting chance. Well, if you really value your life, you should take the time to put on a condom. Plus, the study didn't account for lack of safe-sex education among circumcised men.
It's clear that the conditions in Africa (frequent condomless sex with prostitutes) are not present in top industrial nations. Japan, Taiwan, UK, Germany, all Scandinavian countries are nearly free of circumcision yet all have lower HIV infection rates than the US.
one of the highest rating countries for circumcision in males AND females is Africa, & the country with the highest count of aids victims is...Africa, so thats the whole 'circumcision reduces aids infection' argument blown out the water, if u think circumcision has any real benifits in men or women u are seriously stupid, arrogant and/or nieve & moronic...Oh and btw it DOES reduce the sensitivity & pleasure of sex for men, i should kno, im one of them!!!
Circumcision is the most barbaric procedure EVER!!! Circumcised penis for me is the same as hand without fingers. I was freken out when i see first time in my life circumcised man, and it wasn't pleasant to me. I'm from the Europe and circumcised penis is very rare stuff here, and I feel sorry to american mutilated men.
Wait, babies are going to have sex?? WTF..they should make the decision when they become older, not as babies. Babies aren't supposed to have to worry about STDs/AIDS. It's their penis, their decision!
It's been years since these studies have been done and yet not one national medical org. in the world has adopted prophylactic circ. against HIV. Average 45 year old men when circ. done as infants has callousing of the glans/mucosal 1-2 condoms thick and yet STILL MUST USE CONDOMS to prevent HIV infection.
So MGM a.k.a circumcision supposedly reduces one's chances of getting HIV by 60% (assuming one has an active sex life with multiple partners and no protection). A condom will reduce one's chance's of getting HIV by up to 99.9%. Hhhmmmm.
Might as well start cutting off people's noses to reduce there chances of catching swine flu while we're at it.
I suppose that swine have flat noses that look like they've been cut off. I'm sure most circumcision proponents would agree that is more than ample anecdotal evidence that it would cure swine flu.
