@ashwednesday69 Spleen and Ideal may be truly sophomoric in the sense that it is their second album, but it stands out. The trombones alone are enough to set the album apart. Then, the jazzy drums on Advent with Brendan's lyrical voice and lest we forget Lisa channeling Mesmerism. Wait, one more thing, the album cover is in my top 5.
Excuse me if I start generalizing here, but I would love to know of more music like this-mesmerizing, harmonious, chanting that has some similarities to Gregorian chant.
Check out the cocteau twins too, you may like it as well. I used to have everything available in the states by both until some complete bastard stole my music collection
Yeah, I like the cocteau twins as well. I have most of their albums from the eighties. I also have an album by This Mortal Coil-It'll end in tears, but the music is a bit different from this piece.
Another great band. I do like Dead Can Dance, but strangely enough, never got around to buying any of their CDs. I could browse their work on itunes, or are there any particular albums you recommend?
Brendan Perry's voice doesnt start to annoy me until their forth album, so "Self-Titled" "Spleen&Ideal" "WithinTheRealmofADyingSun" also Cocteau Twins - Victorialand
Start from the self-titile debut debut to the last (Spiritchaser and their live cd from '05). I'm not a huge fan of Spleen and Ideal per se, but it's a good effort. It's their sophomore
Thats pretty much the gist of it, just a couple of words i cant make out but her pronunciation is very clear on this song. If your a Lisa G fan you shouldnt have any trouble!
Are there lyrics for this song or it's just instrumental, voice, acting with random words like Cocteau twins? Frankly saying i listen to TMC for 10 years and still have no idea what is she saying. At the beginning it sounds like. "Please stay stay 2x, stay warm. Misty light's c..."
we all have a fear of the unknown and I think the music is meant to inspire you to explore the unknown in your own life. When we confront our fears we find out how great we really are and we are free to live our dreams instead of stayed trapped in our nightmarish realities. There's this great quantum physics professor out there who tells us "The trick is not to be in the know, it's to be in the Mystery" To Live in the Mystery of Life and to marvel at the wonders of the creator :)
something completely different.there are no bands like TMC and Cocteau Twins.I was 20 in 80-s, always tryed to understand their music, but could,nt. Now I understand everything, even a Bluebird and Song for a sirene.Love from Belgrade...
Lisa does it again. Another beautiful performance.

Browse through Dead Can Dance's catalog, Lisa Gerrard is providing vocals on this track, she is one of the vocalists for DeadCanDance.

Waves Become Wings
Please, stay stay
Please stay stay
Stay a while
Mystery lights keep the dark inside
Evading glances when the light's applied
Stay and run unto me
Sail to me
Come to me
