I just heard this song for the first time the other day. As I have to write a small blurb about it for class I was looking for different versions and came across this. I think you took a classic song and did something innovative with it. It's certainly not how the song was originally intended to be performed, but that's not necessarily such a bad thing. You've got a killer voice, girl - keep using it! :)

Wow, really interesting version. I too associate this with african amercian voice it was written for (the American inner city ghetto) or as a too seriously taken operatic showcase. You add a lyrical romatic twist to this, beguiling delicate lullaby (vs some power-ballad) yet still very pure precise control of voice - it looks relaxed & effortless. Each time I listen, I recognise that there's more going on in your performance (and probably more than I can fully appreciate).

This just isn't right. And I don't like where she sings from in her upper register. It reminds me of Charlotte Church and the weakness in her voice as well, in the upper register. For this song, this style of singing is too odd of a match.
