  • something special here…

  • Yes, I was running at the University when they were finishing the program but it doesn't matter. Anyway she lies. Public Policies at Chile has changed during the Governmnet of General Augusto Pinochet and after that, Chile has been running over clear rules with no radical changes. I think Berkelely had a erroneus vision about Bachelet's Government

  • @hdvm1961 It's difficult to explain something like that in just a couple of lines, that's why I've sent a letter to UC Berkeley with a list of checking points to make a good review about the issues mentioned here. I really think Bachelet's Government was in the wrong direction

  • First, the economy has been recovered from a central planning system ,I mean from a really Marxist one, to a Free Market oriented where prices are assigning resources. This is very important to understand Bachelet's Concept about Social Justice which is one near to social equality instead to a productivity based one.

  • @hdvm1961 From this point of view it's clear that Bachelet's speech is a Socialist one and when she talks about social justice she is not caring for an optimal resource allocation and even less caring for those people who are in poverty. (We define Extreme Poverty as a state when people are in a vicarius circle and they cannot quit from there by their own means). In fact this is very important because the government is taking money of the people from a pocket to put to them into another.

  • @hdvm1961 The real rules of the game (the real social change) has been undoubtedly defined during the Government of General Augusto Pinochet and those rules has been kept during all the subsequent governments with some amends but with no changes in its core.

  • @hdvm1961 It's strange to hear Bachelet to say that she recommend the new! Retirement Plans Systems instead of the old Retirements Plans System when in fact there weren't significative reforms because the system was irrefutable and has allowed to rescue the pensions funds received in 1973 from the total collapse and you can review the history of the ancient system at UCLA and you will find a lot of information at the Department of Economics.

  • @hdvm1961 How could we explain the arriving of Bachelet to the government, well it's so simple first of all she is in an alliance between the Socialist Party, the communist Party and the Democrat Party which is the same as the Democrat Party in United States. In fact the American Democrat Party helps this alliance and of course we the right wingers are more near to the Republican Party which is more near to our traditional values.

  • @hdvm1961 We Right wingers respect your interest to hear about Chile in the field of Latinamerican Studies but I feel It's necessary for you to have an entire comprehension of this country to have a different point of view and in this sense I can recommend you to make a Panel with Hernan Buchi, Cristian Larroulet or Carlos Caceres (M.A. Economics Berkeley) to really understand what has been changed and what not.

  • @hdvm1961 For this Country Bachelet's arriving to the government has been sad and with no responsibility mainly in the field of economics. I really think Bachelet's presentation is currently representing a vision ( almost supernatural) of the socialist party but in none sense what she had to show as an former President of Chile.

  • @hdvm1961 The issue is that so far distant to give benefits to the people in poverty, the proposals made during Bachelet Goverment has been using their own money (V.A.T.) to pay the hard increase in the Goverment Expenses to finance large wages from new hirings, and not creating new policies to to increase the growth of the Geografical Domestic Product.

  • @hdvm1961 Instead what we have seen here is a populist government during the last 4 years (more populist than Lago's government) which has tried to make hard changes to the chilean Public Policy but they cannot, because those policies have made improvements in the quality of life of all Chileans so it doesn´t make sense to do changes.

  • @hdvm1961 Actually in Chile 26 % of the fiscal income came from the V.A.T. being at Chile 19 % and it came from the same bread the people use to buy.

  • @hdvm1961 I think you are misusing the comment board. Please try to be more concise.

  • I've heard Bachelet's speech and it appears that she could be a leader in Chile but people at Berkeley must to understand that she has been elected by just an a half of the voters and even when she has been the president of Chile , most chileans don't agree with the policies proposed during her government.

  • if you like her so much, you may keep her as long as you want.

  • @hurtao007 So are you in the Marxist Bachelet's military ?
