  • Paul Anka and I are fhe same age, I have loved him since I was 15 and still love him today, his voice was always great and has matured with time, I still love him!

  • It's not bad I think.

  • is it just me or this guy resembles a little bit of Tobin Bell?

  • 9 people did it in a shy way

  • Before death, most people will totally faint, and said to anyone can save them, I want to live. :) Then passed. :)

  • I also felt so amazing that always remember Elizabeth I before she passed away, she refuse to see or talk with any doctor, even standing there alone for 14 hours, then said I am tired, sitting on the throne, and bite her own second finger then passed in peace--second finger means self? No name finger means family? . :) What is the self lover is this, also, so strong in mind and body. :) Nobody beat. :) Even the men. :)

  • Avan ihana - its so great i, love it.

  • Paul Anka's the best!

  • It should be more correct to say that this song is originaly a FRENCH one. The music was composed by Jacques Revaux in 1967. Only the lyrics in english belong to Anka.

  • love paul anka <3 amazing singer and composer!

    where was this performed?

  • i dont get the beggining?? with the gunshot?

  • @nao1163 the beginning is only only the introduction with a few jokes about the show ,the sound you confused with a gunshot is actually the sound of the host jumping into water, if you'll notice the location for the song is actually suppose to be a bridge, so it was just a joke like "oh i'm gonna jump off this bridge because the show has been canceled" The short excerpt without seeing the rest of the show makes it a bit confusing :P

  • Oh man I just learned something about Paul Anka. Great performance.

  • Elvis owns this baby

  • the best!!!

  • who is this guy? i remember him but can't remember his name....

  • the great paul sings it his way.... excellent..

  • Sinatra is the greatest..........his version number one........

  • Very good...but Sinatra's version is still best.

  • beautiful..... just beautiful word sung from his deepest emotion... love it

  • sex pistols /m/ ;)

  • I really believe than no one can sing a song like the person who wrote it!

    Paul nailed this one!

  • An unforgettable performance! Truly one of the most personal and moving performances I have seen . Paul Anka = love

  • Love this song...

  • Anka nails his own tune as no one else could. Watch out for the songwriters who can sing. They are a double threat step above all other legends.

  • @goodoldazed I agree. These are Paul's own WORDS out of his own MIND. They have more meaning when they are sung out of Paul's own MOUTH. Did Frank ever write a song in his life? I'd always wanted to hear Paul Anka's version of My Way and am so happy I finally did. :)

  • I prefer the Claude Francois version.

  • I think, that there is no "this is the best version"! There are some, who can make it in a unique, amazing way! But every man is different, so Sinatra is good, Anka is good and Preasley is good. In different ways, though. Oh, and of course if you haven't seen the original of this, with Claude Francoise, you must watch (and listen of course) it!

  • I think, that there is no "this is the best version"! There are some, who can make it in a unique, amazing way! But every man is different, so Sinatra is good, Anka is good and Preasley is good. In different ways, though.

  • In my opinion, the best version of this amazing song. Paul is great.

  • this is music francais!!!!!!!!

  • This may be the best, but the song has grown in stature from all the important recordings and performances. Ol' Blue Eyes did inspire the wonderful lyrics, too.

This is the first time I've heard Paul Anka sing this - great video!

  • I just saw Paul Anka and watched him perform this. I thought "It's great when Frank Sinatra and Elvis sang this, especially considering their stature. But Paul Anka singing it? While he does a great job, well, it tends to lose a little oomph."

But then I come home and find out that he actually wrote the song and that whole idea is totally changed. Now it's more like WOW! Frank Sinatra AND Elvis sang it? What a fabulous tribute to Paul Anka!

  • i have heard al the versions the las hour but the paul anka one is the best

  • i agree !!!

  • i have heard al the versions the las hour but the paul anke one is the best

  • fabolous !

  • vicious is better!

  • What a voice! What a talent! What a hairstyle? =P

  • AL GUEY QUE NO LE GUSTA, ES PUTO

  • Elvis has the best cover.......O like Paul Anka too this version is better than Frank Sinatra but Elvis overcomed this 2....

  • Cool!!

    one of my favorite song

  • I am french but I like Paul Anka's version even though the original was sang by a french singer Claude François. Sure Mr Anka wrote his own lyrics that are completely different because the "story" is not the same at all.

Anyway I don't mind of who wrote the best lyrics. The only thing that makes me happy is Music and only Music.

  • @altosequannais

    i hate french

  • My God, What genius! A perfect song for a perfect singer......and he fuckin' WROTE IT!!! Sinatra was brilliant, but even he must pay tribute to Paul Anka! A genius among geniuses.

  • I like this performance even more than Frank Sinatra's.

  • Who was that who Introdused Paul? He looks just like Paul

  • Beautiful the voice e song! Seu rostinho jovem e lindo! Uma grande apresentação. My Way!

  • merveilleux

  • I was a 60's teenager - who loved Paul Anka ... Annette wasn't the only one !!

    He's adorable.

  • i like how Jay-Z did his song from a sample of this

  • is really beautyfull the song wrote for paul anka for me better that interpreted for frank sinatra...for you alejandra i love..

  • Please know that this song is originally a French song "Comme d'habitude" which has been adapted by Paul Anka who wrote the English version but this is not a translation. Indeed, French and English languages are too different to get a a good translation to be properly sung in English. That's the reason why Paul Anka had to write a new version in English. The French version song talks about a love break up/heartache whereas the English version is more about a man who looks back to his life.

  • @berbersissi Blah, blah, blah,....F*ck the "French version". Paul Anka created one of the greatest songs ever composed with his lyric set. He is the true author of this song! Paul Anka and f*ck everyone else!

  • @Nemesis7293

F*** you. I'm a big Anka fan, but give credit were credit were it's due. Writing music is harder than writing lyrics.

Jacques Revaux was the true creator of this wonderful song.

  • damn that was good

  • Excellent

  • The best!

  • man... listen to that voice I've got chills ALL over my body and my eyes are literally getting teary. Just.... WOW!!

  • loving the presenters haircut LOL!! check out pauls daughters new blog antheanka. com pretty awesome!

  • It is the best composition because he wrote it. He is the originator of this song.

    Pure emotion

    Thank you

  • Sid Vicious had the best version :P

  • Perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Perfect. Much better than Elvis, Frank Sinatra and Rob Williams

  • What show is this?

  • Ok ? lifegood ??

I dit it my way ??

  • Wikipedia: "Comme dhabitude" (French for As usual) is a French song written in 1967 by Claude François and Jacques Revaux with lyrics by Claude François and Gilles Thibaut.

Paul Anka got the rights to it (for free) for his American production company. After rewriting English lyrics, Frank Sinatra gave a cross-Atlantic version of it in 1969 under the title My Way.

The tune of Comme d'habitude is also the musical basis for David Bowie's 1968 single Even a fool learns to love.

  • that's true he just got the rights of that frech song and translated to English for Sinatra. That's the pure fact.

  • @nalcow I don't know if it's pure fact... I was reading the lyrics Paul Anka wrote are unrelated to the French lyrics... i.e. no translating involved... just the melody is the same

  • mmm...just right now i've seen david bowie who says that this song was composed by him...For sure i believe bowie.

  • this is the best version of 'my way'

  • I forgot to specify. Yes, he took the melody from a French song, but he did write the lyrics for Sinatra. Doing this is a pretty common practice, and is in no way unethical. Other examples include "Danny Boy," the Irish ballad, which takes it melody from I believe an Italian song. Leonard Cohen's "Famous Blue Raincoat" also had part of its melody copied in "When I Need You" by Leo Sayer.

  • Dear chimpiki,

I agree that it is not unethical. After all, they got permission from the original creator.

But from the standpoint of justice, music fans should honor the original creators.

Without them, they would not be able to enjoy the music they take for granted.

This is not a legal issue. It is an issue of what is fair and right.

  • Fair enough, and I think it is important for people to be well informed. To be blunt though, there's so much knowledge to accumulate, you can't expect people to know off hand that this was taken from a French song. Plus you never know who's commenting on youtube. I definitely wasn't aware of this anecdote until just a few years ago.

  • Dear chimpiki,

I like Paul Anka as much as the next guy. In fact, I like his own rendition of "My Way" more than Sinatra's. Notice I didn't say it was "better." I just said I like it more.

But some Anka fans were laying down the law about how "Anka was the original author of My Way."

He was indeed the English lyricist, but the melody was by Claude Francois.

Part of it is peoples' attitudes. The term "fan" is short for "fanatic." Some fans are pretty trigger happy.

  • @thechinadesk

The melody was by Jacques Revaux. Francois agreed to sing it and made sure that the text fit him(he and Gilles Thibault wrote it). While Francois might have done slight changes to the melody, the full piece was made by Revaux.

  • @RWBn00b

If true, then it affirms the value of the Internet.

Information is made more available. Over time, this helps to settle long simmering controversies.

    Thanks for that note.

  • Paul made this song for Sinatra. He came up with this song in 3 hours. He did it as a friend of Sinatra.

  • We went to his concert yesterday and it was the best concert we have seen for many years.

This song was one the many many highlights of the evening.

Linda and Ad Nuijten, The Netherlands

  • Jose Jose se chinga a este cabron y tambien al freances estupido ke la compuso en 1er lugar,, If you disagree then you can go fuck yourself..

  • Fuck you You Fucking Maricon

Este tio deja a Jose jose en la mierda

  • Comme dhabitude est une chanson composée en 1967 par Claude François et Jacques Revaux avec des paroles par Claude François et Gilles Thibaut.

    French Song.

  • PAUL ANKA HAS WRIITEN THIS SONG; FFS, it is HIS OWN COMPOSIOTON that Frank Sinatra has taken all credits for

  • Paul Anka a réécrit les paroles parcequ'il est francophile.

Cette chanson est française. French Song.

    Claude François, FRENCH; Yes.

Les USA ont toujours l'impression d'avoir tout inventé.

Et je me refuse à parler english.

  • Dear stirnersept,

You are right. And it's not the first time.

For example, "LHymne à lAmour," with music by Marguerite Monnot and lyrics by Édith Piaf, became "If You Love Me."

For example, Fascination with music by Fermo Dante F.D. Marchetti and lyrics by Maurice de Féraudy, became an English language hit.

Often the later version is quite good, but credit should be given to the creator of the original.

    It is only right.

  • Paul Anka wrote the song for Frank Sinatra with Frank Sinatra in mind, using phrases he knew Frank to use often (eg. "I ate it up, and spit it out").

Frank didn't take credit for the song, rather the world bestowed it upon him. The man was known for making each song his own. He never claimed to be a lyricist or composer, but each song he sang could sound like he wrote it: the mark of a great artist.

Besides, other artists have made their mark on this song, including Anka himself and Elvis.

  • what the hell are those bells? C'mon BBC/Britain, you almost ruined the best song ever!!! ;)

  • the best song that has ever been writing

  • Amazing....

  • Come on, that voice, it's so brilliant.

  • Legendary:D

Well, actually, I think this is the best My Way performance ever! Even better than Frank Sinatra etc.

  • @darapperr yeah i think it's better than sinatra too

  • It is the best composition because he wrote it. He is the originator of this song.

    Pure emotion

    Thank you

  • great man, great interpretation of this legendary song !

  • So pleased that this upload is back, went missing for a while. Thanks!!!

    The best version ever!!!

  • great

  • aaaaaaaaaaa is a classic
