  • I have a 2001 BMW 325i

  • How often do u change your trans fluid ? Every what? I was told it is lifetime ? & u don't need to change it cause it has no timing belt ?

  • Hey man.

I have 1996 318i BMW. When changing from first to sencond (auto) the car shakes, feels like it comes from centre of the car. It is worse and more of a thudding sound when driving up a hill and it changes gears. Do you think transmission oil change would fix this?

  • @NZskater32 i doubt a transmission oil change will fix this, if your oil was low or very old and dirty the damage is most likely already done. it never hurts to check your oil level and condition of the fluid though as preventive maintenance

  • Is this process applicable to the e36 m3?

  • You don't need to worry about oil in TC that was filtered before It was pumped up there. It may be dark but is clear of dirt. You did the most important thing by replacing the filter.

  • Your video really help me with my bmw 525i 2005 thanks much

  • I have a GM trans(Green tag) in my 2004 325,I know each type of trans has different fluid requirements. The GM trans uses Dexron VI,the dealer will try to sell you the fluid at a very high price. The gasket and fluid is different from the other trans, which I THINK is a ZF,not sure.

  • Let the car runs with the drain plug open it will push more dirty oil out.

  • whats going on man. i watch all your vids great job.. i looked on ebay for the fuild couldnt find it do u have the link? and where did u get the fill bottles from?

  • @MsTashc i had ordered everything to do the job from Amsoil except for the gasket set itself i had purchased that from BMW

  • @Bullshitkorner thanks man!

  • @bullshitkorner thanks man!

  • what fluid, and where did you get it?

    thanks,

  • Do you know where to check the transmission oil ?

  • @817erick on the automatic transmission you check it at the fill plug, however in order to do that you must have the transmission warmed up, jacked up safely and before you remove the fill plug you must leave the car running and go through all your gears leaving it in every gear for at least 5 seconds. while the car is running go underneath and remove the fill plug. if you did it right and your transmission is at the proper level the fluid should just be below the fill hole

  • Is the process the same for changing the transmission oil on a manual transmission 325i?

  • @alexchacon777 i would believe so, the only difference is that you would just fill it up till it started coming out the fill hole, while a automatic you have to heat it up and finish filling with the car running.

  • I am in the middle of doing this but have problems. z3 1998 atuomatic 2.8L. I drained the pan and measured 5.5 pints that came out. When I went to fill it back up I only got 1.5 pints in before it started to come out of the fill hole..WTF? Car is level and even jack it up more so it would'nt weep out and it still does.

  • @davidon2 run it on the stands till it's warm and run it through the gears, turn off engine remove fill plug and pump more fluid in if you can. run car again and go through gears, leave car running remove plug and see if you can fill more in.

  • you are supposed to fill twice.

1st engine off, fill till fluid coming out.

2nd start engine and go through the gears 5 times with 5 sec pause in each gear, engine running in P, wait till the pan is warm-ish then open the fill plug fill more fluid till it comes out.

  • Thanks for the DIY! How much did you put in for the first flush? 3 lts?

  • how do you know when you got enough oil inside transmission?

  • @poll12ito according to what I found out by research was that the torque convertor holds 5 litres and the oil pan holds 4 litres, I was just able to pump under 4 litres in the oil pan before oil started to come out the fill hole. it was more like 3.75 litres I got in and so far it seems to be running great with no gear slippage or anything wrong.

  • Nice DIY...kinda expensive flushing with Amsoil though....my MB has a drain on the torque converter I'm guessing BMW does not
