However, I am having a loud humming noise from the power steering.. mazda said its normal which is annoying as hell. Anyone hearing the same thing? cross shopped Golf, Cruize, 2nd Gen tC. Got MZ3 S with 6speed. I come from VR6s and boosted H4s, so anything in subcompact was great on fuel economy. Main concern was power and handling. MZ3 is clear winner.

I like the color a lot, I looking in to buying one of the Mazda 3 Hatchbacks, and although the front grille is....hideous... I plan on getting it in black, so it will cover it up decently.

Just bought a 5 door S model to replace my 2005 3i.
Better all around car,more power,stiffer chassis,smoother riding and a lot quieter.
The Bose 10 speaker stereo is one of the best factory system I've ever heard,but the moon roof that comes with it tightens up headroom for my 6'2" frame.
Only regret is maybe I should have bought the GT for the added comfort/convenience features.But that add's another 2.5K

If you ask me, these are one of the best poor man's sports cars. It's quick, it looks good, it handles well and it's reliable. Not much more you can ask for unless you've got tons of cash sitting around.
I have a Mazda 3 Grand Touring model and really like the car. Hate the GPS in the 2006 model because it is not user friendly but everything else is great about this car. I prefer this to the E 55 AMG that resides right beside it!

It's not true that Mazda built crappy cars in the 80s. I've known the 87 GT to get over 200,000 miles. I still have my 87 that went over 100,000 with few problems, and time will tell whether this new mazda will last or not..
Good time to look into a mazda. Toyota knew that its cars were suffering from "quality control issues" during investigations, including rear gas structs, ball joints, etc. GM has recently recalled 1.3 million compact cars.
compares to civic and corolla? bullshit! it compares to nissan versa and toyota matrix... hell even compare it to an audi A3 or a VW golf if you want... but not a civic...

There is no way I am jealous. I have an '08 5 door & think it looks much cooler than that new joker mobile. The headlight "eyes" are too big & the smile grill looks ridiculous.
My computer speakers have packed up so didnt hear the commentary....however, having owned the new 1.6 Sport model for 3 months, it's fair to say that it's a decent car for the money. Handles lovely round corners, easy to park, comfortable, nice steering wheel, attractive dashboard; and it's a lot better-looking than your Golfs and Peugeots.
Also makes people look twice, since it doesnt blend with all the Astras and other common stuff.

I would go with Mazda. So, for the first 60,000 toruble free miles you look good, and if the car bombs at 130,000, at least you didn't pay too much for it. Plenty of Toyotas are toast by 120,000. Hondas can go at 80,000 with their crap transmissions.

the smile does stand out on the non black and dark grey colors. I would avoid the bright colors for that reason. It is a very good little car. I'm on my 2nd one. A Great drive!

JUNK! thanks to modern styling the visibility in this car sucks! take any car from the 1980s for a spin and you'll see what I mean. cars in the 70s and 80s were built with safety in mind, not style!

What a god-damned gross looking grille. Un-fucking-believable what had happened here. who are the group of pinheads that allowed the designers to do that? smiling front end? really? Maybe if I click my heels together three times and sprinkle some pixie dust on it, this Disney-designed shitty grille will fuck-the-hell-off and show up as something real and more agressive looking for 2011. but I wouldn't bet on it. As for the rest of the car, I couldn't give a shit. Fix the grille and we'll talk.
I like it too. Plus, the smiley front was done to make the car more aerodynamic and to cool the engine more efficiency. It was done for efficiency, not design.
that rotten smiley face grille is the direct result of designing only for some type of function, not style. it's only a tiny little 2.5 litre engine, and that opening is large enough to feed a blast furnace. it's unnecessary. and as for aerodynamics, it's a Mazda 3, not a Bugatti.

I bought the mazda3 hatchback GT last week. Its black, it has heated seat, power seat, heated side mirrors, stability control, traction control, windshield rain sensors etc etc etc bose sound system... I looooooove it! i paid $24,984. Worth every penny. Its cooler than my dads 2008 BMW 330I. GREAT CAR FOR ME WHILE GOING TO SCHOOL! im 23...

It's not true that Mazda built crappy cars in the 80s. I've known the 87 GT to get over 200,000 miles. I still have my 87 that went over 100,000 with few problems, and time will tell whether this new mazda will last or not..

Good time to look into a mazda. Toyota knew that its cars were suffering from "quality control issues" during investigations, including rear gas structs, ball joints, etc. GM has recently recalled 1.3 million compact cars.

i just had one (base model) and it's awesome! test drive first guys and do the judgment then compare it with corollas, civic, lancer, for the same money i'll take this over the rest any day

I think it looks amazing, also the people that say it looks ugly is because they're jealous that they don't have it. I'm not being a smart ass or anything, its just that, when you see it in person and sit inside the car, you will fall in love with it. ;)

There is no way I am jealous. I have an '08 5 door & think it looks much cooler than that new joker mobile. The headlight "eyes" are too big & the smile grill looks ridiculous.

My computer speakers have packed up so didnt hear the commentary....however, having owned the new 1.6 Sport model for 3 months, it's fair to say that it's a decent car for the money. Handles lovely round corners, easy to park, comfortable, nice steering wheel, attractive dashboard; and it's a lot better-looking than your Golfs and Peugeots.
Also makes people look twice, since it doesnt blend with all the Astras and other common stuff.

@DJTEVAdotCOM What car is? The 1in 50 Toyota/Hondas sold that do? Many people claim the Miatas can go over 150,000 without a problem.
I would go with Mazda. So, for the first 60,000 toruble free miles you look good, and if the car bombs at 130,000, at least you didn't pay too much for it. Plenty of Toyotas are toast by 120,000. Hondas can go at 80,000 with their crap transmissions.

the smile does stand out on the non black and dark grey colors. I would avoid the bright colors for that reason. It is a very good little car. I'm on my 2nd one. A Great drive!

JUNK! thanks to modern styling the visibility in this car sucks! take any car from the 1980s for a spin and you'll see what I mean. cars in the 70s and 80s were built with safety in mind, not style!

What a god-damned gross looking grille. Un-fucking-believable what had happened here. who are the group of pinheads that allowed the designers to do that? smiling front end? really? Maybe if I click my heels together three times and sprinkle some pixie dust on it, this Disney-designed shitty grille will fuck-the-hell-off and show up as something real and more agressive looking for 2011. but I wouldn't bet on it. As for the rest of the car, I couldn't give a shit. Fix the grille and we'll talk.

I like it too. Plus, the smiley front was done to make the car more aerodynamic and to cool the engine more efficiency. It was done for efficiency, not design.

that rotten smiley face grille is the direct result of designing only for some type of function, not style. it's only a tiny little 2.5 litre engine, and that opening is large enough to feed a blast furnace. it's unnecessary. and as for aerodynamics, it's a Mazda 3, not a Bugatti.
