I think you should let the author play with her character. I HATE HER!!! In every movie and book someone or something is trying to kill her and I keep thinking "OH COME ON JUST KILL HER!!!," when she is still alive. One part of me agrees 100% with everything said in this video.
The other part of me feels like pointing out that Edward wanted her to mary him before turning her into a vampire to show that she was committed and ready to be with him forever and she was worried because her parents got divorced there for she views marriage as too much of a commitment. No, Bella doesn't represent all teenage girls. She represents Stephanie Meyer living out her fantasies through her Mary Sue so she can bang her Gary Stu. First, at the very top, there's the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
Right after that comes the Star Wars saga.
Star Trek comes after that, along with Harry Potter.

@2002virus I agree, Sakura is treated with no respect in Naruto. Her character is just there to be the 'female one'. Just when you start to think she's changed and become stronger she reverts back to being a love sick girl kicked around by her crush.No one is vying for her attention bc she doesn't matter in the series, sure Naruto likes her, but selectively, when he's not obsessing about Sasuke.So no she is not like Bella, who gets way too much attention she is, in fact the opposite.

@riptiderobin15 Sakura really isn't treated with any respect but Sakura is a victim of character decay to get her out of the way of the whole Naruto-Sasuke thing. Kishimoto stripped her of all attributes to make her a love sick damsel in distress and a Hinata number two. That is, as much as I used to like Hinata, stand by a let the men handle everything. I'm sorry but the decay of Sakura was one of the most sickening things out of the entire series and reason I dislike Shippuden.

Also just for the people who argue about this, Bella swan is a terrible stand-in character for the reader, she isnt a character a person can just plop into because she has no personality, because she actually does, and the things that she does have (mind blocking powers) the reader will never have. Watching this again, I went, "Dear God... what if he ever saw Breaking Dawn?" and I almost had a fit at 1) the possibility of hilarity at its finest and 2) the other crap that he hasn't even said, such as, apparently, having a child before you're even twenty and right out of high school, is another BRILLIANT IDEA she does. One part of me agrees 100% with everything said in this video.

It's official. Women can have their Edwards and Jacobs (and I LIKE Jacob). I will marry NC instead because HE HAS SENSE. Honestly, as an adolescent female, I highly object to the character of Bella. She is everything I've been telling people since I first picked up the series and no one believed me and still don't. I read the series for Jacob because I thought he could get through to her (HA!) and once I start something I have to finish it whether I hate it or not. She's horrible and should die.

Bella does no emotional development at all and that is very disheartening. It was awesome to hear the NC do a piece on this character because she really is horrible in every sense of the word.

She gets rescued a lot of the time but she doesn't just stand there all the time either. She finds her own courage. Lord of the Rings by Peter Jackson were excellent movies with developed characters, brilliant dialogue, an overarcing sense of doom and very technically sound filming and editing.

I have to actually comend Stephanie Meyer. She proves that you can be a terrible author who makes some of the worst characters to be created in recent memory, a story that has huge plotholes, controversy and disgusting overtones and probably the scariest main female character to ever exist on film or in literature and still make money because the world doesnt care. It is terrifing and I cannot find anyone who can adequetly defend the Twilight series without agreeing partway that it sucks.

No, Bella doesn't represent all teenage girls. She represents Stephanie Meyer living out her fantasies through her Mary Sue so she can bang her Gary Stu.
