I am sympathetic to the GLA's cause, because this is what reality is. When has it when a foreign army of capitalist and liberal power and views enter into a very religious country who has different values. Then they come in and decide to alter their domestic policies to suit their own resource gathering. You dont seem to realize that not only Islamists, but also the USA and China are presented in a very ironical way and the game uses clichés to parody all three armies. Nonetheless I think that every parody contains a bit of truth somehow. I also think the game is not anti-islam, but anti-islamists as you can see at the workers who want to "live in peace". Still dont go to far judging this game - keep in mind that it's not meant to be realistic.
Nearly 80% of this game's players are under the age of 18, so it easy to poison their minds and put an idea in their heads that Muslims are evil, and that USA is always right. I think that is unfair, also, I don't think either China or USA were represented badly, USA was represented as the 'freedom fighter' and 'peace preserver' who kill evil-doers ( GLA ). While China was presented as simply being the defender, defending their land from 'evil and barbaric' Muslims.
Its not a one-sided parody though. China just to name one example gets money by illegally hacking the internet in China the game is forbidden, because it's mocking China. The USA parody is maybe a bit more subtle, but still I think it's quite obvious. UN planes through crates with money saying "UN" on it - or the super-righteous behavior "preserving freedom", "it's the right thing to do" stands in contrast to the fight scenes were they say "kill everything not american!! leave nothing behind!".

I think Call of Duty is a much greater evil regarding racism. Maybe even one of the biggest racist games in gaming history. But I also have to agree on Kampy's opinion that in Generals the factions are displayed with a subtle humor, not to be taken entire seriously.
@Kra7as I don't hate muslim people. I played this game a few times, and I didn't hate them. I loved the game, and I'm 12 years old, and I played this game even 3 years ago AND MORE!!! There are also muslim people in my city, and my friend was in our class, but he had really bad grades, so they transferred him to another school. And nobody, NOBODY hated him...
@Kra7as The funny thing is that they take pains to make the GLA not overtly Islamist. They're more reminiscent of Libyan state sponsored terrorism. Ironically enough, when I played this as a kid I ended up being way more sympathetic to the GLA because they were by far the most fun to play.
