This was filmed at Land Warfare Centre located at Canungra in Queensland. I was stationed at LWC at the time. Had the opportunity to meet Graham Kennedy and few of the actors. Yep Aussie Humour in the Military is one of the greatest have many stories I could tell.................Ex Australian Army Digger (LEST WE FORGET)
Two great films came out of OZ, The Club and the Odd Angry Shot, I just love the club, get it out every Xmas....and just have laugh. Oh and Im a Pome.
One of the best Anti-War movies ever made. May God bless all the unfortunate men and women who have ever had to participate in the madness that is war.
MY GRANDFATHER WAS IN THE SASR during vietnam and when I watched this movie for the first time he said to me that the film was inaccurate in terms of the roles that sas would undertake including very deep reconnisance and hit and run raids
This movie is in my top 10 best war movies! And this scene is the best of this movie. I have not seen this film in over 20 years. I wish I could get an U.S. version DVD.
He he he....Aussie soldier humour at it's best. Love this movie. Funnily enough, Aussie soldier humour is exactly the same 40 years on. Gotta love it!
i don't think it ever has (or will)... lmfao - but hey, you gotta laugh or cry, and we aussies ain't really known too much for cryin, so that leaves us one option now, doesn't it? lol
Thanks for posting Mate! I wish I could find this movie here in the states. I rented it once at a video store on VHS, but the store went out of business a few years back & I was never able to find it again. It is one of my favorites... David
Hi Dave, I've got this on VHS but recently they have been re-releasing Aussie movies on DVD. And I'm sure a good Panasonic will cover all regions. ;)....or a Marantz.
Hey..thanks for the information... I found a copy online & burned it off the internet. High Quality & in Widescreen(LetterBox)... Now I can watch it anytime! I encourage everyone who love a good war film to do so...
This is the best, funniest, most honest and empathetic portrayal of Aussie soldiers and their sacrifice/ work on operations in Vietnam. They did a great job and our country let them down and treated them like shit! The SAS were the best troops in country and that has been recognised by everyone, including the North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong guerillas! Who Cares Who Wins!!
@thematthatter84 War is only proper when there is honour. The last two wars had their moments, but recently since the advent of missiles/mines it just became mass murder. All animals fight, but usually its over something real, not something imaginary/political.
Lmao the disappointment on their faces when they think he doesn't realize that it's a "wanking device"

What we do in life echoes in eternity. These men chose a side and defended their beliefs.
