if you have really really curly frizzy hair it works well to get perms. it will give it better curls and flatten it a little (in a good way if your hair is ginormous). the only bad thing about it when you get a perm with frizzy curly hair type after the perm fades and falls your hair wont have any specific shape just straight and big frizz so make sure you get it redone! i dont know y im posting this comment...whatevs

@nightgirl350 Not everyone's hair gets ruined, mine didn't. As long as you get stylist who has been doing perms for years and is very experienced with perms, then she will be okay. You can't just tell someone not to get a perm because you had a bad experience

Question, I have sort of naturally wavy-straight (though not in the pretty way) hair and I was wondering that even though I have hair like this can I still get a wavy perm so I can make my hair better looking? Also, my hair is naturally a bit poofy so if I get a wavy perm will this enhance the 'poofiness' of my hair?
@doodaaadum Yea I am sure that you would be able to perm your hair, it might help. I'm not sure about the poofiness, but you can always use products and try different things to help calm the poofiness :) ask your stylist

On your first perm... it does that.. you have to get REALLY SMALL rollers your first time.. then after about 6 months go smaller & it will give it more volume!! @nileshgohel its a spiral perm. It did not damage my hair, medium sized rollers were used, and the after care is basically using a shampoo and conditioner that is moisturizing and try not to use a lot of heat tools
ALL perms are really bad for your hair. Once you perm your hair, your hair will never be the same. Your NATURAL hair will be the new growth. I am black (not mixed with anything) and i have used perms all my life.No matter what perm you get, they all cause damage to your hair. In order for me to get my natural hair back i would have to cut it all off and believe it or not i am (I AM NOT TELLING YOU THAT YOU NEED TO CHOP ALL OF YOUR HAIR OFF). We may have different hair types but damage is damage.
@southerngurl210 My hair isnt damaged, i just trim my ends every few weeks, my natural hair is already back half of the way, pretty much by my ear, and the ends of my hair are just wavy. Some people do get their hair damaged but my personal opinion is as long as you take care of your hair you should be fine, a lot of people told me it would damage your hair and that kind of scared me but i got one anyways, and i am glad i did :)

@15butterflies MY perm was $75. WHen she shows you the curler sizes ask for the medium one because that was the size that i got. And yes i had layers :)

@TheRc35 Thanks! If you want one i would say go for it! My dad has gotten his hair permed twice :) Just make an appointment late at night or early in the morning if you are worried about people staring, but other then that i wouldnt worry about what people think, so if you really really want it then if i were you i would get it done :) just make sure to take good care of your hair!

And thank you :) It has lasted a very long time now as you can see that this video was put up 5 months ago and i still have my perm, it lasts up to 6 months, but really it grows out with your hair. It will not damage your hair as long as your stylist knows what he or she is doing and you take good care of your hair :)

And the results are different for everyone but it depends on you. I would get it done professionally, thats the best way to go, the price depends on your stylist i would say about $65-$70

@AngelicAnimeX It will work for any hair type not just straight :) so if that is the description of your hair, then it will work for you. Make sure to talk to your stylist before getting it as well :)

@thehagnasty It definitely smelt when i got it done, and when i left the salon there was a faint hint of the smell, but it wasnt like tearable, when i was around people they didnt even notice it

Im thinking about getting my hair permed. I have SUPER CURLY hair. Like its not even curls, its like S's. I straighten my hair everyday, and I know its super bad. Im trying to grow my hair out, so I though it I get my hair wavy permed, I'd like it... But if I did go get it done, would I wear my hair straight, or nautural?

@nileshgohel its a spiral perm. It did not damage my hair, medium sized rollers were used, and the after care is basically using a shampoo and conditioner that is moisturizing and try not to use a lot of heat tools

ALL perms are really bad for your hair. Once you perm your hair, your hair will never be the same. Your NATURAL hair will be the new growth. I am black (not mixed with anything) and i have used perms all my life.No matter what perm you get, they all cause damage to your hair. In order for me to get my natural hair back i would have to cut it all off and believe it or not i am (I AM NOT TELLING YOU THAT YOU NEED TO CHOP ALL OF YOUR HAIR OFF). We may have different hair types but damage is damage.

@southerngurl210 My hair isnt damaged, i just trim my ends every few weeks, my natural hair is already back half of the way, pretty much by my ear, and the ends of my hair are just wavy. Some people do get their hair damaged but my personal opinion is as long as you take care of your hair you should be fine, a lot of people told me it would damage your hair and that kind of scared me but i got one anyways, and i am glad i did :)

@alexisoneal123 wow! Yea the price just depends on the stylist and where you get it done, My perm got a lot curlier, i had to get mine done a second time because mine had fallen to quickly. Well the curls will eventually loosen. I hope you like your perm though :)

@15butterflies MY perm was $75. WHen she shows you the curler sizes ask for the medium one because that was the size that i got. And yes i had layers :)

your hair looks great. i am thinking about getting a perm but i am nervous because i am a man and i am worried that everyone will be staring at me. but my hair is so straight and i would like to have it curly without having to sleep with curlers in my hair or getting up to style it every day. any advice

@TheRc35 Thanks! If you want one i would say go for it! My dad has gotten his hair permed twice :) Just make an appointment late at night or early in the morning if you are worried about people staring, but other then that i wouldnt worry about what people think, so if you really really want it then if i were you i would get it done :) just make sure to take good care of your hair!

@staindeyes27 Hello I love your hair! It turned out so beautiful :) My hair is identical to yours just a bit longer. It's super straight and I can't really do much with it. I envy people with the textured hair you have now : ) Just wondering how long it lasts, and if you still like it! I'm really considering it, my hair is even the same colour as yours :P Also does it do any major damage to the hair?

And thank you :) It has lasted a very long time now as you can see that this video was put up 5 months ago and i still have my perm, it lasts up to 6 months, but really it grows out with your hair. It will not damage your hair as long as your stylist knows what he or she is doing and you take good care of your hair :)

I'm so scared to perm my hair...
My hair is very curly and thick.
My sister has like had over I'd say about 7 perms and her hair is FRIED and looks like a black girls hair (We are mixed (mom is white dad is black) and everyone says we have white girls hair so Yeaa haha!) I want my hair to be straight!! I'm talking like pin straight!!! What is the best perm idea for this, and should I go to a professional?? If I do how much would it cost...? Help please?!

@TheresSummer Did your sister get her hair done professionally? It can also be fried because of the many times she has permed it, you must take good care of your hair. And the results are different for everyone but it depends on you. I would get it done professionally, thats the best way to go, the price depends on your stylist i would say about $65-$70

@scb97forever Dont be scared, as long as you get a stylist who is experienced with perms then you should be fine :) My hair is thick and was thick when i got it. And i still have the perm, so almost 7 months, it lasts a long time because it grows out with your hair :)

@MurphasGurls Well no offense to your friend, but its your choice not theirs. If you want to get one then research it, talk to your stylist, and if you do get it take a picture so your stylist knows what you really want. I have a picture link in the info bar if you are interested :)

@StaindEyes27 I LOVE MY NEW PERM!!!!!!!!!!! Oh My Gosh! It kinda looks like Taylor Swift's now! I love it i love it!!!!!!! Best decision ever :] and my hair doesnt feel dry or anything. and the chemicals smelled sooo bad. I didnt think it would smell that bad, but it did. Lol :)

would this work for someone with naturally wavy/curly hair if they wanted neater spiral curls rather than natural, frizzy, poofy curls, or would it only work on naturally straight hair?

@AngelicAnimeX It will work for any hair type not just straight :) so if that is the description of your hair, then it will work for you. Make sure to talk to your stylist before getting it as well :)
