This may not be one of MS's best performances, but she remains one of the most compelling musicians of the last century. Absolutely nobody does Brel better than the man himself - no debate there. But one must give NS credit for singing the song as originally written, vs. performing the bastardization of a translation by Rod McKuen,(If You Go Away). Finally, I'm tired of hearing the complaint, re: NS's "accent" - French was not her first language. So what. Quite nitpicking, and enjoy her genius.

Jacques Brel maitrisait la langue française avec perfection, quand ils prononcent les mots ceux ci nous percutent au plus profond de nous-même. L'accent de Nina passe mal du coup l'émotion émise n'est pas la même, je ne parviens pas à rentrer dedans personnellement. Cependant, merci Nina de lui rendre hommage.
