its funny because originality Continental was just going to buy united all together several times not even merge with them but they realized that buy doing this they would be losing money since at the time united was losing money on there routes but they came back with a big comeback financially after several years and they merged and to think united was also originally going to merge with us airways
The Saul Bass "U" motif was awesome, but the new globe logo seems very fresh and clean, even though its 20+ years old itself. It's kind of growing on me when I see the entire package, ticket counters, ads, new airport signs, etc.... All thats needed now is New public contact uniforms and a new cabin decor!
The United LIVERY and theme music are better, but Continental service and fleet rocks, and both are already being dragged down by the merger. Sadly so.

@MyleneJ Continental has already cut food from economy (the last major US airline to offer it), has cut blankets and pillows (ditto) and has started charging for virtually everything (ditto). And all this started when? When the merger occurred.
@luckycharmboi2 The food "cuts" are temporary, while they reorganize the Flight Kitchens. United always has offered Pillows and Blankets in Economy and will continue to do so, Sounds like you may have caught and unlucky flight for that one.
And before you say they "Charge for everything" They aren't charging anymore than they used to
Ticket prices have dropped, and have been parted out so you only PAY for what you USE. Allows people who don't want certain services to fly for less.
@MyleneJ Perhaps United branded flights have, but Continental's prices certainly have not dropped. Continental has cut the number of flights, began utilizing even more embraer and bombardier props, and at current check, a ticket I used to pay $500-600 for is $761.
@luckycharmboi2 Be patient A merger this big is no fast process when done right, give some consideration to everything needing to be done. The combined company has a Huge route structure and as of right now Legacy United and Legacy Continental employees cant touch the other sides jets, plus all the repainting going on there are aircraft gaps to fill. Seriously, Give it some time and patience and you'll be rewarded. Quick and reckless and you'll end up with the same cluster-fuck that is Delta.
@luckycharmboi2 Plus, before you start throwing all that blame at United for "Dragging Continental down". You need to realize Its mostly Legacy Continental Management who are in the major upper management positions.

@ejdf870 You've got to be kidding me. The Tulip was designed by a legendary designer named Saul Bass, and the "U" for United fits the airline perfectly. The logo is a very well known, iconic logo and has reached a status that power point clip art thats supposed to be a globe never will. And the "new" livery looks like it was designed on a napkin after $mi$ek had too many drinks. Infact, it probably was.
