  • Thank god joeblack is irrelevant!

  • Thank god there are songs like this, thank god there are unforgiveable crimes, thank god there are people who "kill" other people who needed to be killed.

  • It never ceases to amaze me how beautifully Regina's music is when live. You can't even really tell that it is live...

  • This song is good

  • hehe Great song :)

  • I didn't think I could love this song any more.

    But holy crap.

    Live version FTW.

  • this song is so beautiful i could cry

  • No but they do curse him... ...Or, more likely come to know he isn't there.

  • she is so beautiful and she has so beautiful voice...it´s like singing in video...

  • I knew it she can't sound that perfect live. But does it really matter? I think not.

  • well im an atheist. and i dont think this lyrics are about "no atheists in foxholes". i think people didn't get the irony of this. i understand she sings about god only being a good presence in people's lives when they're not in complete dispair, when they are not in a situation where they know that not even god would save them. thats why they are "not laughing at god", and "laughing with god"

  • The lyrics are so so true. so so true and sad.

  • I like a lot of Regina's work, but this sounds like the old adage "no atheists in foxholes". Ignorant and boring.

  • @sistemann1234 may you never be in a situation where have to cry out .....but, you will be.

  • @sistemann1234 @sistemann1234 I think the way she uses god is meant to symbolize everyone's hope for a driving/positive force behind the universe, rather then an actual specific god.

  • there was this girl who sang this song for washington union and that talent thingg. she should have won like 2nd or 3rd place because she sangg it soo b.eautifully

  • i heard this song on the radio the other day and it has been in my head since. it was so intense tht i started crying and it really made me think about it....

  • this is very emotional song

  • feoleo88, you should win the Youtube Pulitzer.

  • Reminds of the saying the vets say in regards to combat:

there's no atheists in a fox hole.

song is very profound and dead on.

  • @yarbles67 I see what you are trying to say, but I'm afraid I have to disagree with you. For one, in an armed conflict, after witnessing so much death and suffering, it might lead to the consequence of one losing faith in a god.

  • hey i heard the girl that sang this song she was super goog but i dony remember her name

  • How can I say it,..

..the world that used to imbue my little mind with strange little senses and sensations and unname-able emotions was so much more beautiful..

    ..such lovely world then, ..

.. there was no cognitive sense of anything except the senses itself in its most purest form, the most tangible form.. no god in my mind but it was so lovely then..

And then, the world became uglier, human faces became less real..

  • When sleeping a dreamless sleep, does the first person narrative stop?

If God to me is a second-person narrative, and I am after-all still living in a mode of me, a first-person narrative, how then can a second-person narrative ever carry on if THE first-person narrative stops thinking and all senses shuts down to a vacuum, like a dreamless sleep ?

  • @feoleo88 You're not the only narrator, that's how.

  • @ravengypsywings

    Who knows ?

When does sleep begins and reality ends ?

How can anyone be sure a dream is not part of reality , or if reality is not part of a dream , or if a reality might exist without the appreciative presence of a dream or consciousness ?

If science provides discernible boundaries for reality, what could have provided the "infrastructure" for the perceived "chaos" of a dream or the recurrence of the dreams ?

  • @ravengypsywings

Interestingly, Madonna once sang "Life is a mystery, Everyone must stand alone".

Indeed, a wakeful experience cannot be shared exactly between two persons because no two persons have the same sensory ability or perceptions.

    ..

Since what you know can never be the exact same thing that I can learn when there is no common basis of an infrastructure of science..

"narrator", "god" or whatever .. remains just a group of letters making up a sound..

  • @ravengypsywings

A newborn does not fear dying, god does not exist in its consciousness even if the baby is dying.

There is no fear of losing when one has nothing to begin with.

    ..

Wishing thinking at the point of losing something precious does not prove the existence of god. Wishful thinking remains a human emotion. One day out of fear of dying I might call out for god to save me, the desperate act does not make a difference to the existence or non-existence of god unfortunately..

  • @ravengypsywings

Lest you misunderstand, a non-belief in god might have implied a failure to acertain the existence of god BUT in no way does a non-belief in god constitue a denial of god, or any disrespect in itself ..

    ..

Is the child to be blamed for uncertainty , when faced with 100 women screaming and demanding to be acknowledged as the biological mother. In the end, is the biological bond any more cherished than a lifetime of shared memories with a foster caretaker ?

  • @ravengypsywings

As a child many years ago, living in the beauty of the world was simply living life itself - no extra connotations, no meanings beyond the experience itself ..

    ..

I am not sure why there is a need to explain life itself beyond merely living it. Many years ago I introduced chaos and fear into my life when my childish mind involuntarily began to grapple with new concepts of "god", "purpose of living", "how to behave according to certain rules and expectations" ..

  • God was non-memorable until years after a baby grows from merely observing the world till he starts to make sense of his observation..

Its a world full of fear where every step that we take holds another unknown next step to who knows where.. in fear some live, just like a child grasping for a foothold for a sense of security and comfort, the child imagines the spirit of their parents guiding them.. is it a placebo effect to calm oneself down?

  • there was a girl from out school who sang this song for the talent show . it was amazing even better than the origional singer. people will probably post it soon. her name is tiffany .

  • hey i heard the girl that sang this song she was super goog but i dony remember her name was she playing the piano

  • I started crying when she said " no ones laughing at god when there saying there goodbyes" it reminds me of my grandma with breast cancer. Reginas lyrics are so meaningful

  • Even as a religious person myself, I completely get what she's saying... Her insight is wonderful...

  • I was hanging out with God last night... and then the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, and Big Foot showed up.

  • i watched the original video of this song a few months ago and there were people debating religion and what not, but not here. not you people. i like you people. i like this song. and i love jesus.

  • seems like some people only call on god when they neeed help. she could not have sad it any better.

  • this song reminds me of my grandma that died.i always cry.i luv this song.and i luv u grandma ps: this isnt a funny comment im for real:(

  • This gets an award from me for the prettiest and best song with the dumbest sentiment and lyrics.
