I just don't get get, marijuana has been studied over and over again, more people are using it more than ever, with resulting in the violence to control the profit of cartels and when you have citizens and government officials to change the laws...what else need to happened in order legalize it
The drug war has caused a whole lot more harm to innocent people (users) I have lost three friends who are now sitting in prison (2 got seven and the third got 3 months) and one of them didnt even have any money to buy the stuff but still got convicted from saying something to a uc.
@jpl3119 ditto, one who busted my friend for an 1/8, got caught 3 weeks later with 52 plants in her basement, cops sell it back to dealers, dealers sell it to us and the cops bust us to fill their quota as the dealers tell who is buying.
@sativasymbiosis yea, yea yea. sure. go ahead and legalize marijuana and hemp, next thing you know these dope heads will be smoking there damn toilet paper just to catch a buzz!!! XD
This guy looks like he is completely disinterested in what he is talking about, look at the way he is figiting and reading from a script. If he is going to stand for something, the least he could do is look like he believes in what he is talking about!
The powers that be have determined that the benefits of keeping pot illegal outweigh the detriments to them insofar as legalizing it would lead to the fall of the petroleum industry as well as the pharmaceutical industry.
the cannabis plant can be used to derive an eco friendly ethanol fuel. the model T was designed to run on it, but i believe that was when logging businesses got it outlawed through lobbying(because hemp paper can be made without deforestation).
biodegradable plastics can be made from hemp too. in case you didn't know, plastics are made from petroleum molecules.
i don't entirely agree with the pharmaceutical thing, but it is true weed can't be patented.
@katards It would not lead to the fall of either of those, I'm not sure that it would really affect the petroleum industry at all not sure where you are getting that please explain. As far as the pharmaceutical industry it would weaken it's power but not it's overall existence. The pharmaceutical industry would simply find it loses a large profit from those who choose to grow and use their own cannabis instead of a prescription option, but it would not fall.
@iFreeThinker The first Ford car was built to run on hemp oil. It is easy to grow, and renewable. It also cleans the air and it can make clothes that last 5 times longer than cotton. Do you realize how many clothes are petroleum based? Petroleum is a disgusting, dirty fuel and its by-products are not healthy. If everyone realized that hemp was a viable alternative that practically anyone can grow, the petroleum business would go under very quickly. It might take a little time to transition.
@katards don't forget to grow that cotton it uses half of all of the U.S. agricultural chemicals like 25,000,000 lbs or something a year of poison which goes into our freakin water. in which those chems are made from the petro industry.
@sativasymbiosis Yep, that's true. Hemp could go a long way in helping to save our world. We just have to figure out a way to get rid of the criminals who suppress it.
@katards I think we need to just start a riot like in London with the fire. That's the only way to get the government's attention. If you speak to them in a calm, mature manner they brush you off their shoulder like a pesty insect. However, if we form a large crowd and act crazy to the point of destroying towns, that's when they'll realize we're serious. They'll realize "Oh no, they're actually standing up for themselves!"
@Sallyallie89 I think that would be a big mistake. They are dying for a reason to institute marshal law and that would give them the perfect excuse to start selectively knocking off people they want out of the way. Really the only way is peaceful non compliance to the extent that it is possible. Parasites need to be fed so we need to stop feeding them. They especially love to feed off of negative energy. Please don't give them any. I think a lot of what is going on in London is engineered.
@katards As a scientist and a green movement advocate, I'd say the ability for hemp fuel is a little bit over emphasized considering we could not grow enough hemp to both supply fuel and paper pulp needs. I agree it can be used for many things, but it's just not quite efficient enough to supply all those needs at one time. A better solution would be electric powered vehicles using energy collected by solar sources and leaving the industrial hemp for clothing and paper.
@iFreeThinker Ok thanks for your input, I appreciate that you know more than I do about it, and I think that if we could grow it without limitation it could make a huge difference. Anyway, fazing out petrol is really the key, as long as the alternative is clean and efficient.
@katards You're welcome :) just trying to spread the knowledge. You are correct though that hemp presents very real and cost effective solutions which could hurt the pharmaceutical industry, but also an added side effect of a such a liberal policy such as legalization could be that politicians may be much more prone to enacting green policies as well such as solar.
@katards That's exactly what people need to understand, I want to smoke weed as freely as the next guy, but legalizing it would cause a lot of problems in the long run. It's the government that is the real problem, because the truth is, either the government would ruin weed, or weed would ruin the government. Yes, legalization works in other countries, only because of the type of country they are. For anybody who needs any more simplifying of katard's post, Weed(legal or illegal) + U.S. = fail.
@cumquad420 The movement is going to die out when people realize it's pointlessness. All we can do is set a good example so the next generation will help out. The last generation is still polluted with false ideals and misplaced trust in our government. Only when they die out will we have the ability to correct mistakes made in their lifetime.
