I, personally, use this site as a giant preview site, for anime, games, etc... I do enjoy when there are talented people making the videos, so don't misunderstand. I am actually more likely to buy/rent things because of these videos.

i wish I could have posted it up with the song Iris from the Goo Goo Dolls since that is what the video was put too, but youtube wouldn't have it so I just had to set it up with this song. And don't worry, I do the same. I can't tell you how many anime and cd's I've bought because of an AMV.

I don't think they realize all the free advertising they're getting rid of. In Old Hollywood, they would've vigorously encouraged it. Why should they pay if commoners are doing it for them?

I think they dislike it being out of their hands. People get upset over every little thing these days. I see it as free advertisment too. Sure, some people do bad things like downloading stuff when they can just buy it, but I honestly think that actors and singers are paid way to much anyway. And that comment is for mainstream artists not those who struggle.

Yeah, people do get upset for nothing. I glanced at someone for less than a second, just establishing location, and they had a hissy fit. I told them that I don't like knocking into people and, for some reason, they took it as a "racist" comment. I laughed, of course. I didn't even know what they looked like until they started yelling. *^_^* Silly self-conscious person.

Yeah things have gotten out of hand recently. I mean, I enjoy drawing things and I post them up on the net. People are free to take them if they want (I doubt many do but you know what I'm saying). If you make something and show it to the public, you're pretty much giving it away if you ask me. I think all music, movies and art belong to everyone. Afterall, we pay to go see the movies so they can keep making them. We pay to buy the cd's and mp3's of the music artist so they can keep performing.

I guess Youtube is against songs from groups being promoted in any way. I think this is heavily frowned upon by the artists themselves, wouldn't you say? Without promotions, they can't sell... much. I really doubt making a music video (fan-made or otherwise) using the artist's song is in any way, shape or form a violation of copyright.

Same with use of movies or games. I'm kinda hesitant on starting my net show on here if I ever get prepared to do so because of this crap. u.u

Yes, but youtube is just a tool and has already sold out to bigger corporations.

But what can you do against heartless corporations that take songs down unless it's up on their own personal channel. Music belongs to all of us, we pay for the mp3's and we pay for the cd's. They are ours too, so why shouldn't we be able to use them and thus further promote these bands to others who are just going through and looking at different videos?

It has to do with the band or company complaining about their stupid music being used without permission. If you ask me, and I know you didn't, they should just leave the songs up. If people like the songs, they will buy them. Heck, even putting up a link to where it can be downloaded for a small fee online would get them more business. Having them just taken off the music makes me not want to buy anymore of their stuff if they are going to be so stingy.
