I think everyone saying they are not noisy should try living by a wind farm first. I haven't ever lived near one, and I can't really speculate on if I would be bothered living by them. Last I heard the problems may have been rooted in low freq. vibrations, in which case you wouldn't even need to hear it to be affected by it. Either way, if some people like them and others don't, then those that do can live nearby and those that don't dont have to.
I live near one of the largest wind farms in the world and have taken my own videos. Noises include crickets and the rustling of soybean plants...that's pretty much it.
The people who complain about "unheard" noise or make up illnesses due to EMF or RFI rank right up there with those who think microwave ovens are radiating their food or the munchausen mommies who poison their own kids in order to get attention.
Wow, that thing is so noisy it should be placed 30 miles out at sea! It seems to me that if someone hasn't got neighbours to complain about they'll surely find something to have a whinge about. For every turbine erected, put a brothel at the base, after a year, remove the brothel and everyone would readily accept the turbine.
Seriously, this video just proves that they arent noisy.
Its the best solution to the energy crisis we have right now, and i think people should get over their stupid issues with them. They dont spoil the area. What would you rather have? a few white windmills, or a fucking huge smokey power station? I know what i'd rather have...
People are more worried about the value of their property near them, so they have to invent reasons to hate them or stir up false information. Usually these type of activists have nothing better to do than sit and home and complain. In the UK they are known as Nimby's or (Not In My Back Yard).
That is a smaller one. I have been right up to one of the larger ones in WI and they aren't much louder. Especially when it isn't very windy, you can hardly hear them. Even on windy days they aren't nearly as bad as cars on a street.

Funny how people in big cities experience much higher levels of noise and suffer no ill efects; what is it about country people and land owners?

Why is the noise of these things even an issue?

Wind power FTW!

You should try to make your own. It could power your PC or TV or all those small things in the kitchen.
I'm also trying to build one.

Indeed.
People are stupid.

This also looks a lot smaller than the ones I have seen and heard in Wisconsin. I suppose that would be quieter!

this video's audio has been edited to downplay the noise issue.
the video does not have capabilities to record ultrasonic noises that affect all forms of animal life.

this video has not been altered. That's what I recorded.
Ultrsonic noise? Don't make me laugh.

@nakazatoGTR ...I agree with windpowerrocks about this. Besides, I thought the term I heard about this was INFRA-sonic (not Ultra).

The 1.5Mw ones near where I live are noisy as hell.
