Someone with an engineering degree, however, can do everything a business major can do and more, but it all depends on what the person does with their degree.

Industrial engineering is more of an engineer's systems approah to industrial operations. Applied Mathematicians call themselves operational reseach analysts or management scientists.Effient management of materials and people and their interations using mathematical models and silulation or otimization techniques..Mechanical engineers ,electrical engineers and chemical engineers design the components of processes but not industrial engineers.

yes, and u can take more or less if you want, depending on ur skool, for example we have to take materials, mech analysis, even system controls....but i wouldnt say 80% mech...

No....is no the true, I recomend that you read the book of Shigeo Shingo, after that. if you want studie IEE you are welcome, im working in Quality Control and i dont need any Mechanical background, i have some but is not need it at all unless you work on the machining area. like cnc lathe or something like that...
