  • wow..first time i've heard this song and i already love it

  • Just watched this video now because I heard it on an advert for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

  • Love this <3 :D

  • I love this song...even though it does remind me of my cousin when he was in hospital on life support, and everytime this song comes on i imagine me and my cousins boyfriend running down the corridors in the hospital when he was almost pronounced dead,...before he came back....and the last time i imagined this, we didnt make it to him and he died... <3 a very powerful and amazing song <3

  • @TYL3R4EVA <3 wish i was there for jack... i miss having him around :( xx

  • "You got wires, going in

You got wires, coming out of your skin

    You got tears, making tracks

I got tears, that are scared of the facts"(:

  • saudades de kdo ouviamos isto juntos!!! :))

  • I listen to a lot of metal and hardcore, but I'm not ashamed to admit that I think this song is absolutely amazing. I remember hearing this when it came out, when I was still a kid, and how it affected me then too.

  • My wife stayed at home to look after our two baby boys while i went to hospital every morning before work and every night after work to get to our poorly boy.. the rush to see him through those automatic doors, nights praying to a god i dont believe in...Sid carroll RIP my son. Wires gets me everytime and i hope it continues to forever.

  • i'm not normally into indie type music - into jazz/latin/soul/motown etc maybe bit of grunge/rock in early days, but this track came out and thus was on the radio when my father was dying at home of cancer when I was 26, it's a beautiful song and the words just seem to fit perfectly, that's a real knack of a lyracist, this song touched & still touches me to the very core of my being - nice one lads, great song! thanks - it really helped, 'i see it in your eyes, you'll be alright' I saw the same!

Maybe they had a defenition of taste independant to that of yourself. Deal with it.

  • I love this song. I was so little when it came out. I can remember it being on a music channel in what? Well, it was a long time ago.

  • fuckin' hell thats a powerful song.

i have 3 kids and luckily never had to go through this, my youngest was born 2 weeks early but she was perfectly healthy.

the lyrics choked me up a bit, the amount of love i feel for my children..it would kill me to see them like that.

  • The frontman's really hot

  • i love this clip

  • soul busting song reaches me all the time his child has one of the greatest fathers in the world just for him being there an expressing it in a song must be the worst pain in world loosing a child an espically when u there watching them go i pray for all the parents who have had to endure it there true heros an hoping they can find some kind of happiness after it :(

  • My daughter was born 14 wks early weighing just 1lb 5oz she spent 6 months in hospital so this is a song i really relate to.....makes me cry!

  • this song really hits home, you'll be home soon son love daddy xxx

  • Can relate to this song!! Nearly lost my daughter when she was born. A couple of months later this was released. Still feel the emotions of those first desparate few hours now when I hear the song.

My daughter thinks its funny that her daddy starts to cry wen this song is played! :-)

  • I can relate. Although I'm not a mother, my little brother was in the NICU for several weeks. I wasn't allowed to go see him and I didn't know if I would ever see my baby brother alive, but he grew up to be a happy healthy obnoxious little boy.

I'm glad your daughter is okay :)

  • @penfoj One day she will understand and she will appreciate that you care so much.

  • @penfoj Bless you! :)

  • @penfoj It's amazing how music can connect with emotions and memories. I get a tear in my eye when I hear the songs which were played at my wedding. I hope your daughter is happy and healthy now. Also, great tune btw. :D

  • @penfoj You're kidding? My parents said the same thing to me! I was born prematurely and very nearly died.

  • @TheMellowSide yeah he never said that he didnt send his kid (you) to the orphanage

  • @theUltinator I ain't even mad.

  • @TheMellowSide thats the way forward. forgive n forget.

  • whats this song about?

  • The song was written by lead singer Joel Pott, about his daughter who was born prematurely. - facts about the song itself.

The song is dedicated to her daughter about the time her daughter is being labored.

  • It's about a newborn child who is struggling to stay alive.

The wires that are keeping the child alive, the plastic box they keep newborns in the NICU in. The lyrics:

Running, down corridoors through, automatic doors

Got to get to you, got to see this through

First night of your life, curled up on your own

Looking at you now, you would never know

I see it in your eyes, I see it in your eyes

    You'll be alright

are that of the father's struggle that first night and seeing the child grow.

  • I hope that helped :)

  • Deep

  • close to my heart this song as my son born 13 weeks early gives me a lump in my throat every time. Brilliant Song.

God bless you son "you'll be alright"

  • @je72 All best wishes for him and his mum as well :)

  • whats with all the thumbs down on people's responses?

  • My son had similar 3 month period and I have songs that remind me of that period in the same way

  • one of my fave songs!

  • great song:)

  • This song was originally written when the lead singer's baby was born premature and had to be incubated for a while, hence the title. The words describe everything that him and his partner went through while their baby was in hospital - awesome song and beautiful lyrics - i feel like crying whenever i hear this song.

  • Very touching song & one of my favourites... Has probably already been mentioned somewhere here that much of Athlete's video for this track was filmed at RAF Bentwaters in Suffolk, & the tunnel behind the band is the part of the jet engine testing facility, also known as the hush house. The US Air Force used to put aircraft into this sound proof building & run the engines up to full throttle with the exhaust gases blasting down that tunnel. Bentwaters Parks has a website with many photos.

  • such a deep song, anyone living in the uk will be well aware of the bad press social services have recieved recentley, it makes me think about baby P, and how sick in the head the parents must have been, they should listen to this song and maybe learn how parents should feel about their children.

  • yeah heard this on tv.....well good tune

  • Was it that chirty advert about children, because thats where I heard it.

  • I've never had a song so close to my heart as this song, the video does not reflect the meaning but I guess it wasnt supposed to, its probably the most personally inspired song he has ever wrote and I'm sure I am not the only person to say that it helped me through a tough period in my life and for that, this band will always stay top in my heart. Woefully understated

  • Why is everyone putting a thumbs down on this comment? Sure, it may not be well written but the sentiments the most important thing. This song means something to this person and they should not be patronized for stating so.
