Anyone know what happened to his left eye? Is it a permanent condition? One of his boxing injuries? His KO of Wilfred Benitez was awe-inspiring. CuffColl.
Hilton was a true warrior. But got give Drayton full credit too.He was Marvin Haglers number one Sparring partner form 1980/84. Now that would have a fking TUFF way to learn your craft and make a living.No wonder Drayton was a tuff son of a gun.The way he got back up from that Hilton WACK tells you Hagler training will make you HARD!!!
Man, what a waste! I loved Matthew HIlton. I think he was better than his other brothers. If if had only kept himself in shape he'd have been the best junior middleweight champion of all time. I'd love to have seen him against Darren Van Horn. Don King wanted to call it 'The Thrilla in Vanilla'.
@jamdowner I agree, had he been more committed to a spartan life style, he would have been unstoppable at 154 ibs, but I read an article about him one time about how his father as a reward for a good fight, would let him eat anything he wanted, and he was knocking off banana splits, a whole pizza etc. Not the best way to maintain a lean jr.middleweight body, instead he spent the entire training camp trying to pare down, which is very draining on your body.

@jamdowner LOL "thrilla in vanilla"
Mathew was one of the most exciting fighters to watch,
thats for sure. Maybe I'll upload a fight or two of his.
I just dont have a good program for chopping them up
into 10-minute segments anymore :(
