i really didn't understand what an ipad was. i own a a 4 gen touch and 2 laptops. So i bought one. I saw its not much different than a touch but its more like a toy than anything. My laptop can do way more than it and is more of a luxery item unless you are using the screen for business and a way to show off your product quicker than this would be essential. other than that pure entertainment

the ipad is retarded. the only benifit is that it has 3g, so u can use it any where, like a phone, however it does no more then a phone, so basically it is a bigger iphone. You might as well spend money on an ipod touch or macbook air if u want portablity.

Large multitouch surface allows for new UIs, games, etc. It has drawbacks but also advantages (more comfortable to read in bed, on the go, etc. compared to a notebook). Webpages are much more enjoyable. A motorcycle is not a sedan, a sedan is not an SUV, an SUV is not a pickup truck. A cup is not a sink is not a tub is not a pool. Respectfully, it's short-sighted to call it retarded just because it's creating a new category/form factor...

I need the apps, the iPad is lifestyle changing. Ex, for students, there are tones of educational apps (medical, pre-med, or nursing) that I use daily. Living in big city (new York)' I use a app call new York way, which is very helpful. It's also a good organizer, great for social networking, emails, and videos. If you are the type that reads a lot, it great on books, new apps like CNN, ny times, Washington post, and black enterprise.
