  • i dont think he had the money to make more war scenes its REALLY difficult to get a good budget in canada for a film. In the USA some of the lowest budget movies have many times more than our higher budget movies.

  • Paul, you should have concentrated on the battle and soldiers.. Military planning, and the fight and soforth, not some smarmy love story that takes place mostly in Canada.

Outstanding final 20 mins or so but, 1 star out of 5.

  • There is no actor good enough to play a soldier of the trench war. It can't be done PERIOD! Explanation : To play the role realistically you have to feel into it. And if the actors did it , halve of them would just shot themselves...

  • He's gorgeous,he looked so charming in this movie

  • Ok... total fan girl moment here... but he is SOOO handsome. Getting older suits him !

  • I was on Netflix and picked this movie by mistake but found it to be as good a movie as Ive seen in yrs ,Im not usually a war movie fan but this movie was a romance/ww1 history gem, the emotions ran just as high, as any movie can ,the acting was great, the lead actress was beautiful...well done movie

  • I love, love, love Paul! This is the first movie I ever saw him on, and I think he is fantastic! As an American Navy Medic, my heart, and respect goes out to all the valiant Men and Women that fought or served during the Great Wars!

  • The title Passchendaele was misleading. The movie isn't really about the battle. I was rather let down, I expected see a movie about a 4 month battle, not a love story.

  • That film is the greatest bullshi*t in this world. It has nothing to do with how war is, was and will be. It just shows popular history not what happened not even in a short slice. -.-

  • @Maximilian178 Yea and the battle scenes seemed kinda.. badly done especially if you compare it to 'The Pacific' or 'Saving Private Ryan'. Also he had a quickie while his men were being bombarded by artillery?

  • im 15 and im glad my parents had the sense to bring me up with this :) <3

  • OMG he shrunk!!!

  • My Grandfather died at Paschendaele, I know about it in historical detail. Paul Gross did a fine thing in making this film.

  • Heyyy Benny where is Diefenbaker :)?

  • this is an amazing movie! a bit of everything, such a historical accurate movie... soooooo glad i bought this...

Next up; Gunless, i am now a paul gross fan for life...

    AND HES CANADIAN :-D

    Siick!!

  • @leaf16nut

It's not an accurate movie. It's a stupid love tale. That idiot deserved to die, running for the kid on the cross. It was fucking retarded.

  • @Zombiefruit

Well it was a good movie, it was highly realistic dispite what u think... my great grandfather was in WW1 my grandfather was in WW2 and they tell/told tales about war...

and frankly im a guy, and dont cry very often, but i cried during this movie thinking how real it was, and how my grandperants told stories earily similar to this...

  • @Zombiefruit Yah and how the asshole main character stabs the surrendering kid at the beginning. And how they make fun of the guy whose head got cut off. How they demonize the Germans and make jokes about all of the dead bodies. The shit acting from paul gross(appropriate last name) and from that damn emo kid. Worst war movie ever.

  • @KaiserReich98 Don't forget it's a movie, you can't avoid a love story, with tears and promises and so on, usual recipe for a popular war movie, the final act of bravour, allegory of Christ Passion is a very good idea for itself! Why the germans soldiers didn't hang down that stupid kid? Strange. How did the hero recognized him, from that distance? For me the best scene is the german kid sitting in the mud, looking around, among the slaughtery "what am I doing here? It's not real, I will awake!"

  • @leaf16nut I agree with EVERY sentence and statement that you just made! This movie is amazing, and terrifying. If people like Zombiefruit and KaiserReich98 didn't like it, perhaps it's because they can't get their head wrapped around war and how bad it was. I'd like to see them make a better movie. As Paul said in the movie: A man in a trench, is going to see what he needs to see.

  • paul reminds me of clint eastwood. um.. he is about 50. so well. Paul is definitely more sexy. i can really see darryl van horne in him.

  • i kind of don't want to see him in anything else cos he will always be constable benton fraser to me

  • i totally agree. I'm 27 and from the UK..i was an avid fan of Due South as a kid and still am now...you shoeld see my collection of shit i collected lol..i bet it's pretty valuble now ha..|He'll always be Benton to me..he rules!...it's hard to see him lookin old for me tho...he looked good young (no i'm not gay) lol..i just love the show lol...sorry had a few JD's tonight..it is xmas eve :o) take care!

  • @pcspiers omg I'm 27 and remember due south, paul gross was my first tv crush and I've started to watch the repeats on bbc2!!!! I mis diefenbaker!!

  • @pcspiers omg I'm 27 and remember due south, paul gross was my first tv crush and I've started to watch the repeats on bbc2!!!! I miss diefenbaker!!

  • Damn I hope he's not sick and I hope he hasn't done anything permanent to his face, but he looks awful.

  • oh come on! people grow old! and he's lost weight too.

  • He doesn't look "old", he looks sick, and the dyed hair doesn't help. Not all weight loss is good.

  • i love his funny face lol paul !!!

  • A film to be proud of. I loved it. The acting was up there with Hollywoods best.

  • I love paul gross not only is he great actor but Hello!! Great looking to.He is married boo hoo he is hot!

  • Gross and the junkie nurse each did a pretty good job with their acting, as did the Colonel on the front line. He really projected control and confidence in the way he dealt with the other soldiers. Other than that, the movie had very poor acting. I cringed in a lot of the scenes, especially with the kid's acting. Really bad.

  • what was the name of the song in the credits?

  • less love story, more violence imo.

  • Great movie!!

  • Thanks we loved making it.

  • He's got different teeth in the movie.

  • He dyed his hair, that's why he looks so pale. He's too darn thin besides. I'm older than he is, but it's always a mistake to dye your hair darker as you age; if anything, you go a bit lighter. You just make yourself look washed out and older. He didn't need to do it.

  • That's a peculiar thing to say; an actor often needs to do such things. Gain weight... lose weight... change hair colour... get a tan... lose a tan... it's hard to comment on whether or not he needed to do it, really... and even if it was just for personal reasons, hey, maybe he likes the look? He's entitled to... maybe he's going goth? ;)

  • Not so peculiar and not hard to comment on, just an observation. I don't care what the guy does one way or another, frankly, he's still a nice-looking man. The point I was making is that if his aim was to look younger (which I suspect), the darker hair doesn't mask the age. Just my 2 cents.

  • Haha nice!

  • How hot is Arin from Mojo! Jeeez...!

  • A Heavy, Sacrifice !

  • Paul's a cutie, needs a tan though.

  • did you ever see a llama kiss a llama on a llama fuzzy llama funny llama llama llama duck

  • ahahaha I actually have heard that song before
