You're about 4-5 months late for my interest but straight answer to straight question: lol no I do not work for peta or a dozen other organizations XD
I wonder why you asked then, because I replied in 24h, which means less than a day.. but don't be hard on yourself, mistakes happen.. and good day to you too, sir! :)

I agree, the government should simple attach the REAL cost to goods, if something polutes the environment and needs to be recycled, or disposed of they should make the producer (aka us) pay for it. That way we are not makingthe future generations pay for our consumerism.
idiots... sensationalist tv sells... especially by saying that recycling is bad... go figure.. of course there are energy problems with recycling but if our government would support renewable energies instead of Oil and friggn Coal, to recycle would cost less and be more efficient... but no... let's not talk about the real issues... just sensationalism! Hurray!
The American Government as in the State of the Union does propmote reneweable energy. I wrote a project about it here in Denmark. The problem is that the people in America aren't the best at motivating their government anymore. Also your government is doing it so they dont have to rely on Oil from the Middle East anymore which is just the wrong reason why to change energy policies.
Yes I agree, but renewable energies still cost more because they just started funding it recently, and the demand is low, and lets face it Oil industries have contract and deals with governements since they bring jobs and GDP... but it is people (here in Canada too) who should be motivated themselves and asking for change towards greener energies even if it costs a bit more at first the price will go down with demand
Unfortunatly the problem with renewable energy is...it's not very good. Solar power for instance has been used in african bush hospitals, but it'll only power the lights or the meds fridge but not at the same time, however landfills can be used to funnel gas back into the power systems so essentialy it is a renewable energy
I agree renewable energies are not as efficient or as powerful as nuclear or carbon based, but a mix of both would ease up the negative effect on our health but that is not the only problem- the thing is we need to be more diligent with our energy use and consume less than we need to... just thinking that one plastic grocery bag takes 100 years to decompose and a styrofoam cup up to 1 million years makes me think that as intelligent species we can take care of our planet much better...
Absoloutly, but we mustn't let ourselves be mislead by who catastrophise everything (i'm looking at you bird flu doomsday types) we need to look at the real science...not the Al Gore says it's true therefore we must believe it...it's stuff like that that makes people say fuck it cause it's all way too over the top and far from the truth. I'm not sure wether that was a reply to the subject at hand or my mad rantings...oh well

Get rid of the government and let the marketplace handle the energy problems.
Governments are nothing more than violent groups of individuals with a monoply of force/coersion.

I'm sure everyone would follow recycling which is making new things out of old things.
However, the current procedure has too much problems and we should get a new one.
As of now, the system is crap.
Boogyster 5 years ago
Funding it does not make the cost go away. Tax payers would still foot the bill.

Woah woah woah, that styrofoam cup part is way off.
Then again, recycling aluminum is definitely a good idea.
