  • why is marle using fire magic in one of those pics... Looks like flame sword, thats a double with Lucca...

  • @TheUnarmedGamer lol good point

  • actually akira toriyama did do the art work

  • the picture at 0:17 makes no sense considering marle uses water

  • @darklunarknight its the box cover....

  • @darklunarknight it's the awesome energy power. Don't mock it.

  • @darklunarknight HAHAHA, ok...

  • I like toriyamas art work. i like how he was the animator for the dragon ball series

  • @TJhandford524 : Toriyama is not an animator. Comics, illustration, character design, and art direction are his areas of work. He created the DBZ series/franchise, but the animated adaptation was the work of Toei Animation.

  • take the repetitive cymbal out of this.. it ruins it.

  • there's a wrong note in the theme >.<

  • who would have thought that such epic music would come from a video game.

  • They all look like Dragon Ball characters!

  • @jubulalau same artist

  • @jubulalau of course they do, some guys of the team that made dragon ball were in the team that made chrono trigger '-'

  • Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which is electronic music inspired by great games such as Chrono Trigger. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!

  • I wish I had an epoch just to travel back in time to the first time I played this game.

  • Thank you Akira Toriyama!

  • La mean fire vos mean big!

  • Good morning, Chrono!

  • @MinGophers next time leave out the h in crono's name

  • @cliffemall666 Next time, learn that in Japan, it's spelled Chrono.

  • @cliffemall666 It does have an "h" in there, cause it a greek word, its not pronounced like crown or crow.

    Chronos means time.

  • Marle doest use FIRE she uses ICE o_O 0:30

  • @BIGTOAST75 she was originally intended for fire so the pic is um a beta pic i guess lol

  • IMHO...

    This is the best!

  • @Ayala84 you've never roden the epoch isn´t it?

  • @lastonestand001

I have, but every time i hear this piece, i just feel so invigorated.

And like going on a time traveling adventure =)

  • akira toriyama should've continued with this and made it into a series, would've blown dragonball right out of the water

  • @lamasu I'm not sure. It may have ended up with Crono charging up for his attack by going "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHH!!!" for 15 minutes straight.

  • This music impersonates PURE FREEDOM.

  • what song is this called?

  • It sounds better in the Video Games Live!

  • fuck call of shit, chronno nigger is where its at!!!!

  • ITS NOT POWER-FULL ENOUGH DAMMIT!

  • @FogHorn1911 I second this.

  • need a HD quality version of this song!

  • addicted to both the music and the art works

  • what esle

  • I think this would be easier to appreciate if the audio quality wasn't so bad. I do like it but I can understand why others think it sounds a bit off.

  • 1:37 ----> :D

  • The one thing I have a problem with is at the beginning where it's a bit quiet, suddenly gets louder a second later, and then gets even louder a second later still. Other than that, this song is AWESOME~ >w<

  • @Chiiwanu those are called dynamics and katy perry doesn't have any. I'm sorry you aren't used to them

  • @Mannex17 *tilts head in confusion* What does Katy Perry have to do with anything...???

  • anyone MP3 me?

  • @dkznyc So what? I still think he is pure genius T^T

  • advertisements for magazines in japan. had free posters at the time too.

  • Akira toriyama is just genius T^T

  • @Tr3s3ntos

    hes only the artist

  • Something no like to me, maybe the tone, and the percussion instrumentation is not the best (im percussionist, and a latin percussionist)

  • Hm, I'm only here because apparently a piece of the theme was sampled for Wiz Khalifa's 'Never Been'. This is a game? Seems strikingly similar to Dragonball Z...

  • @nrod1984 Because Akira Toriyama did the character design.

  • 2:50

I had that as my desktop background for awhile back in 2000. XD

  • @SuperCommentDude2: It's intelligent and insightful comments like this that make the internet such a great place. <_<

  • @Stonethrower7 well he has a point, i didn't like the beginning either, and purely becuase of the choices the arranger made in the percussion. other than that it's a pretty nice arrangement. needs more guts though...i would give it a b. however, i don't know if there are that many orchestra versions of the ct theme....which is weird. anyways, thanks for sharing.

  • @zachpiano : Had he chose his words more carefully, I would have responded in a more friendly manner, even if I disagree. Anyways, those who pre-ordered the DS version of CT recieved the Chrono Trigger Orchestra Extra Soundtrack as a bonus. The 2-trick disk contains orchestra arrangements for the main theme and a medley.

  • @Stonethrower7 no kidding! i'll have to check that out, thanks for letting me know about it.

  • @Stonethrower7 the percussion definitely gives it a much more powerful feeling

  • @zachpiano I loved the beginning. The shaky noise was is a nice addition to the piece.

  • @SuperCommentDude2 : I hear cymbals, not maracas. Anyways, if you are welcomed to make disagreements, but a little tact will go a long way.

  • @SuperCommentDude2 Marrocas? whats that?

  • @SuperCommentDude2 Go ahead and play your shitty game.

  • @SuperCommentDude2: The sound you're hearing is a vibraslap. It was probably added to the background because the composer had a rhythm in his head that he admired while playing it, and decided it would sound better with that additional texture. In my opinion, it entertains the ears. Being a percussionist, I love hearing a lot of different noises under the main theme of the song.

  • @MetalGearSTEPH yeah that's a vibraslap

  • @SuperCommentDude2 the beginningis messy in your point of view, but it is actually meant to be created like this...artists' drawings which look fake and messy have, actullay a beautiful value, just like this! :)

  • @SuperCommentDude2: Its part of the orchestra rofl. Its intended to sound like that...

  • @SuperCommentDude2 Call of Duty? You do realize that a true gamer sees call of duty as another mediocre game with no value. It is only another shooter.

  • @ranchnugget Seriously? Okay i'll keep that in mind.

  • @ranchnugget *facepalm* stfu please.

  • Gee, where do all these pictures come from? Are they part of the cinematics in the PSX version of the game , of the game manual or just some random art? I love them...

  • @berlinsane : Much of the art can be found in the game's SNES manual. Only the first and last images are cutscenes from the PSX version.

  • If Chrono was in Brawl, this would be it.

  • @Guyverman01 I have a feeling his stage would be going though the different time streams, with the main area being the EoT

  • @Drouge87 ugh that would be awesome!

  • this is fantastic, not sure how anyone can really give this a thumbs down

  • @poorlittlerichiegirl : No need to worry about it. Taste in music is subjective, and you can't please everybody.

  • i love the pictures esp. 2:52 and 3:10 with all the forest creatures

  • @asands123: Speaking of creatures, I generally like his his creature and extraterrestrial designs more than his human ones.

  • not as good as the original tbh.

  • This is awesomeness!! <3 <3 <3!! but there's no corridors! You GOTTA have corridors!

  • In that second image @ 0:20, why is Marle shooting fire at Crono's sword? I thot Lucca was the fire mage of the group!

  • @HisDivineShadow245 It's SNES-era box art, it doesn't make any goddamn sense.

  • I find him as an artist rather limited actually... I mean all his females look like clones (well most of them look like various versions of Bulma) and in general everyone has very similar looks.

He's skilled for sure but his style uses a lot of the same stuff over and over.

  • @StupidNamed @StupidNamed: Actually, Toriyama is quite capable of drawing different kinds of faces, though I admit it doesn't appear to be exercised too often, especially in his more mainstream works. I like his creature and robot designs more than his human ones though.

  • @StupidNamed

I find you as an idiot, rather limited actually...come back when you do some major work for a huge company moron.

  • @StupidNamed Exactly! That's what I always said :/ Never been a fan of repetive style ...

  • i could definitely use this for pumping up

  • This song gives me goosebumps everytime. Yasunori Mitsuda is a genius!

  • 00:25 the girl looks bulma...

  • Why has this game not have a EPIC sequel??? I have Chrono Cross, but...really didn't feel the magic...

  • @JustPhilipPro see from what i've played of both chrono cross seems far superior

  • @nintendonut100 yeah, it does have superior graphics, if that's what u mean, but that stuff about almost 50 characters screwed the story, and none of them are half as good as trigger's characters, the story only gets interesting on the second half of the game and everything hapens too sudenly

ok, it is still a good game, but except by the obvious graphical superiority, chrono cross isnt better at all than chrono trigger

  • @Jeff1N i think graphics are unimportant though music is and on that count chrono cross wins. ah well we are all different.

  • @nintendonut100 that may be true. there are musics from ct that are far better than most of cc's ones, but scars of time is simply perfect, and in general, cross' ost is better (even if ct's music is still really good) , but that doesn't change the fact that ct's story is better, and that matters for an rpg (cc's is good too, but it's confusing, in some parts boring, and the almost 50 characters didn't helped at all)

  • @nintendonut100 Chrono Cross could've been a great game if it had tied in a little more to the original characters. It needed to answer some very important questions.

For instance, where is Magus? And what happened to Crono and Marle? Lucca has either died or disappeared, but it never says why Crono and Marle never show up. Don't you think that Crono would investigate the supposed death of one of his best friends?

  • @myteethareshiny Magus supposedly got cut out, was the magician fellow near the beginning of the game. As to Lucca I'm sure Crono and Marle were in the loop somehow...pending it was cut out because of time and budget <_<

  • @myteethareshiny Dude if you actualy fully complete the game you have your answer to all of the questions you just posted. Considering that this game has man descisions that you need to make that have a clear impact on events it differes. You get a chance to forgive Magus and he joins you to fight Lavos. If you choose to punish him, you fight and kill him and Glen turn back to a human. Crono and Marel get married and have a child.

  • @MasterFeja That child is sent back through a time warp gate to the year 1000AD where Lucca finds it on her walks through a forest. It is presumed this child is the main character in Chrono Cross and thats the connection between the two games. Also Alya gets marries with Kuno back in the prehistoric and Glen goes back to 600AD (if you killed Magus he kind of looks like a green haird Vegeta) where he takes Cyrus' place as the Captain of the Kight's order.

  • @MasterFeja If you dont kill Magus its also presumed that he leaves you after your common enemy is defeated (no videos of this are included in the game since in all fairness he isnt really supposted to be one of you cannon characters. The original "best" ending with all the cutsecens dont include Magus and have human Glen so its assumed you choose to kill him) he goes to traveling through time to try to find his lost sister.

  • @MasterFeja Ive also heard there is a way to save his sister from the floating continent and have her as a rediculously powerful magic user in your party. Alas Ive never seen it done so Im just assuming she is lost to time... kind of sad since her theme Scala's theme is fantastic, but sad.

  • @MasterFeja Wrong, wrong, wrong. Nowhere does it say that Crono and Marle have a child. Either way, that is NOT who that baby is. That baby grows up to be Kid, the daughter-clone of Schala. In the true story, Magus does not die. He is sent to the present and loses his memory. After that, nobody knows who or where he is.

Serge has absolutely no connection to any of the main characters. That baby was sent to that time and place by Schala herself.

I think YOU need to play the game again, dude.

  • @myteethareshiny I did point out the fact that what I said abi=out the kid was a presumption what whatever taking things out of context is easier than reading properly. And I know for a fact that you have the choice to kill Magus or not, just played that part this week. That gives you one of the many split endings of the game. Again Ive never played Chrono Cross so the kid thing was just something I read somewhere else. And Ive played the game enough times. And Im not your dude, firend.

  • @MasterFeja Yeah, you do have a choice of whether or not to kill Magus, but the official story is that he joins you. And I'm not your friend, guy.

  • Just figured this out on sax - it couldn't be in a nastier key ;)

  • This is in my mind immutably the finest example of traditional jRPG design.

  • lol, I wonder why everything Toriyama draws is so amazing? The Dragonball series AND Chrono Trigger?! Epic.

  • Few artists, if any, can pull off amazing work right off the back. It takes lots of practice...developing strong art fundamentals and observing the world around you. Even cartoonists can benefit from life drawing before settling to stylization.

  • Just looking at these art pictures makes me feel all warm inside..

Chrono Trigger.. most epic gaming experience of my life..

  • i have it for the zsnes lol good times :D

  • lol, MARLE FIRE SPELL NOW.......what you use ice?

  • T_T Beautiful. Where can I donwload this song.

  • artist for Chrono Trigger = Dragon Ball

  • Akira Toriyama

  • chrono could kick goku`s ass XD

  • There's no way. I like Chrono as much as the next guy, but Goku? It wouldn't even be a fight. It'd be... just sad.

  • yeaaaa goku would win lolz

  • best fukin rpg ever why did they stoped makin the remake in 3d T_T?

  • From what I understand, wasn't a full-blown remake. It was fan-developed (without Square's backing) interactive demo of some of the game's scenes. Before it was able to be released, Square ordered a cease-and-desist.

  • @Stonethrower7

No, it was the full game, I have the demo that plays up to Zenan bridge, they have been forced to take it down though. You can find a video of it on YouTube somewhere

  • @thedragoonknight:

Really? Are you telling me they were recreating all of content from the original game from maps, puzzles, battle system, etc? That's quite an undertaking. I did watch a video, I was pretty impressed with what they were able to do.

  • Yeah, it was going to be on the N64, and then the PC

  • Fuck the box art, this shit is about as good as it gets. If you cant love this game your up rpg shit creek.

  • Perfect

  • this shit gave me goosebumps .. fucking amazing!!

  • Is Marle pointing at her hooters at 2:37?

  • ....I think she is point at the pendant she's wearing.

  • maybe a joke of Akira Toriyama, you know what pervert he is

  • lol that's what I thought the first time. and Crono is smiling. haha. No, she is just admiring the pendant she wears. You know, the one that caused her to go back in time at the beginning of the game.

  • i love this game..

    5/5

  • 2:11

I remember that in one of the endings...

    Awesome game, and music

  • @ 0:28

look at that picture close, if you notice Marle isn't the only thing wrong with it.

  • I give what else is wrong?

  • Hehe

    Marle uses Ice

Why is Chrono alive in that area? He should be dead

That enemy is not in that era

That tech is meant to be with Lucca, in fact I don't think there is a triple tech like that in the game.

  • Well, to me that area looks like the ground part of Zeal, if so Chrono would still been alive, if its before the undersea palace. But you're right everything else is wrong lol. I think on the original box art Its luca but I could be wrong and am going to check now lol.

  • I looked at the box and damn. Someone has never heard of plot holes.

  • I updated the information on the video description.

  • Chrono looks more like trunks to me. probably the fact Trunks is the only one with a sword and similia hair when trunks goes SS

  • Yes, Akira Toriyama also makes the illustrations on the Dragon Ball saga, so if you compare some of the traces on Chrono Trigger with Dragon Ball's, you sill see theres a lot of similitude.

Actually Chrono might remind you of Goku.

Nice orchestrated version, although you need to volume a little up to hear it well...

  • I would have been so different if I had not found this game. It honestly changed my life... Plus it was extremely fun!

  • @Veverex Lol dude why does this game do that? WHY?

  • Marles shooting fire in the pic, how silly

  • Wow, I never noticed that error until you pointed that out!

That should be Lucca, not Marle. :O

  • hahah yea its messed!

  • Nope not so silly remember the triple tech Frozen arch or something...

  • so its akira toriyama after all, that explains the dbz style drawings

  • Where did you find this? any place where i can download it?

  • i swear crono ,frog ,and marle using arc impulse there

  • Intense + Deep = GREAT!

  • Frog ftw!! Frog squash FROG SQUASH!!!

  • Must have been really old concept art since at 0:24 Marle is using Fire when her element is ice

  • It was more than concept art, it was the cover for the North American release of the game. I'm not sure if either Akira Toriyama or Square were aware of that inconsistency at the time. I still like the art work regardless.

  • Its the triple tech Arc Impulse(?) i think. So its actually correct

  • it was the triple tech frost/arc impulse it made the light around the sword flash between blue and red

  • isnt Akira Toriyama the creator of dragon ball? (srry for bad spelling english is not my natal langage)

  • Dragon Ball is by far his best-known work, but he has also worked on other comics and character designs for video games. I believe he worked on the Dragon Quest series since the beginning.

  • something interesting to think about okay.

here it goes dave mustain from metalica and mega death is related to this game in a way because he was the voice of megaman in the 90's cartoon and the music used in that as well as goku's voice in ocean dub was from that at first and then this which is also done by akira toriyama its kinda neat if you think of it

  • Don't forget about Dr. Slump, the other manga he wrote that got him Popular.

  • lmao I have that poster and that thought never entered my head.

  • i think there using arc impulse or frost arc

  • Where did you find this version? I loves it!

This game is one of the best ever.

Frog is one of the most badass Square characters ever.

  • You can get in a CD when u buy it for the DS verison I believe not sure if it was a Pre-Order thing. I have it but it was given to me. You probley can find the CD online or find a site where u can download it for free

  • Actually, it's from the Game Music Concert 5, a collection of orchestral music of from various video games.

  • Oh, I got mines from a CD =) Thanks for correcting me, I wasn't sure.

  • The only handheld game console I owned was the Gameboy Color. LOL

Anyways, someone posted the tracks from the bonus CD for the DS version and I got a chance to listen to it. The Chrono Trigger theme in the DS bonus CD isn't quite as long or percussion-heavy like the GMC5 counterpart. I like both versions though.

  • True =) and Lawl at the Gameboy Color =P

  • yes i love frog, what a fracking game!!!

  • I got this game on my PSP. Custom firmware FTW!

  • I got this game on my DS. Nintendo FTW! :)

  • I have it on my DS too with an R4.

  • I have this game on SNES rom and on Original SNES system. Old Skool FTW!

  • snes... when i was a i child i used to play all the time out of the school, i became a nerd but it was good anyway lol

  • the aDVENTURE AF THIS GAME IS AWESOME

  • i love chrono trigger, im sort of pissed at the port to the ds though, they got rid of frogs/ glenn's dialect. he doesn't say hath, or thee or tis, he talks like a normal person, and they changed the name of the techs to, arc impulse changed to frost arc and im really pissed that they changed spire to lightning rod. spire was a kickass name

  • i agree with you 200% frog way of talking was awesome back there same as Ayla she talks almost normal for a cave woman and also tonics became potions

  • The reason for the change is they fixed the translation. Remember back in the day, translation was pretty screwed up. The guy who translated the SNES version added in Frog's way of talking, which in all reality makes no sense, cause no one else talked like he did.

As for the names of weapons, they didn't change them. They only called them what they are rightfully called.

Like Terra Brandfords name is Tina Branford in Dissidia and Kefka is now Cefca. Their originals.

  • I still like the originals, but I respect the fact of their original names. It's just that no perfect translation is done, just something closer.
