  • Cheap and Simple

  • I will try again

    Take a look at this.

    Bakatronics Part No MXO56 Electronic Dimmer Switch, 4000 watts @ 220vac 2000 Watts @ 120vac.

Do not know about quality. Don't over drive them.

    Regards

    Karl

  • Thanks

  • Hi again

  • I found the dimmer. You know, as simple as that circuit appears, I should be able to build it.

  • 4000 watt dimmer switch

  • If I can find one.

  • you should be able to scream that little engine, just don't run it too long, 2 strokes need oil.

  • I think I was involved in a discussion at some point where somone was thinking of ways to push the HHO gas through a perfume atomizer or something similar to pick up a mist of castor oil for a 2-stroker ... never did see that tried ... maybe pat is up to it ??? might could let that 2-stroke run for quite a while doing that ...

  • I have seen where that was mentioned. Also, was suggested to me to use an inline air tool oiler. As far as getting the oil in there, why not just use the fuel tank. I know people want to see it absolutely gone, but it seems like the easiest way to go. Getting the lube in the engine is an issue, but I worry about the lube having issues with the gas reforming into water or steam. I have another two stroke engine to do some testing with....we shall see...

  • well, the obvious you dont want to hear ... you really need a variac ... maybe you can get one used on eBay for cheap ... I think I paid about $100 for mine ... its a 120v 20a unit ... then I had to get a box, a rectifier and a 4000uF cap to finish it off ... total was about $250 by time I was finished ... took me about a week to put it together too ... but it works great ...

other solution is LOTS more plates ... maybe 65 or so total ... that would work great with 120vAC rectified ...

  • I have been looking at variacs, but there is something else that I want to try first...I'll show everyone soon....

  • there is nothing better than a variak brute force but even they are limited 20 amps .....

  • 120v at 20a is a lotta watts !!! makes a lotta gas ... I get better than 10 lpm like that ...

  • i know ,i thought about you in one of your pm that you are limited to 20 amps and you want to push more ,and as i see here the guys are heading that way also..

buy trying to cut corners you spend a lot of wasted money but this is how i learned this stuff it becomes an addiction .we should have an hhoaholic meetings LOL.

  • Its all a learning process, and I may have to buy a variac, but I have something else I want to try first...

  • I am calcing around 4.4mmw, not bad, 4.8LPM I am not sure the size of your engine, but that gas should run a 50cc engine no problem. What happens if you take the controller out of the circuit, to the voltage. Maybe remove the cell, and put a motor type load on it and check the voltage, I haven't used those so I am not sure.

  • I got to double check to be sure but I believe the engine is 43cc. I havent tried with the controller out of the loop, yet. I have tried the controller with an angle grinder and a water heating element but nothing DC. I'll keep tinkering with it...

  • The engine is 52cc.

  • Great work man , one thing on the light dimmer it will not work long , I had a 1000 watt one and the last time i used it ,it fried, was only pulling 41v at 10 amps for bout 15 mins and she went POP ..Those rectifiers get hot mine will get so hot ya cant touch it..When I get the money I'm going to get me a 30amp variac.Probably could have done got one with some of the money i wasted .Live and learn

  • I played with the light dimmer already today, and it was getting hot pretty quick so I dont really expect it to last long. I wish I could get this router workin the way I want it to. It would be a fairly cheap alternative to a variac. That heat sink seems to help cool the rectifier but its still getting hot. Got the heat sink and fan off an old motherboard, and the cap came out of an old tv.

  • I have thought about fixing the light switch dimmer with some old radio parts,I hadn't never done anything like that, but I may try,I might could rigg that thing up to handle say 2000 watts or so ,I have 4 or 5 old car radios I could use...Do you think something like could be done?

  • Maybe, but you would be better off askin someone more experienced with electronics.

  • JD no you cannot do that old radio part they have different transistors the one in the dimmer is a mosfet .if it looks the same does not mean that do same thing be careful or you will see and smell some nasty stuff from burned electronics and you might get hurt .

  • I know what ya mean,if i do that I will make sure its the same parts , I have not messed with to much electronic stuff,I have fixed things before in the past...I may play with it may not ..there has never been anything i couldnt do yet.I learn fast..

  • I see what you mean now I was just looking at the radio and comparing parts, Now I have power supply out of a old satellite receiver and it has mosfet stuff on it ...I see the difference. Thanks ..I am going to learn this stuff..
