I've watched all of the diaper cake instructional videos on Youtube, and Steven's is the best. The others are good, but they overlook important details like making a simple, yet strong core and tying the diapers correctly after layering them. If you neglect these then your cake could fall apart. Thanks a lot!

@mariascott67 Sorry we must have missed that part. Good catch! After the ribbon is cut down to size, we fold one of the cut ends over and glue it to itself for a nice folded edge. It gives the cake a much more finished look! Steven barely mentions folding the edge in the decorating section but we forgot to show him gluing it in the video. Sorry for any confession that this caused and I hope you have fun creating your own diaper cake!

so, between 4.27 and 4.30 you need bigger rubberbands?

@terryyouth We just use standard size rubber bands for anything up to a 3 tier. It does get significantly tighter on the last round of the bottom but it actually helps make it easier to create a sturdy solid form.

Just Curious But If You Put Rubber Bands Around The Diaper After You Roll Them, Isn't It Ruined For The Parents To Use Them?

@BzzFest The rubber bands are only used to keep the diapers rolled as you assemble. We remove the rubber bands as each tier is tied off. This helps to create a tight cake that won’t fall apart when you move it. None of the diaper are damaged in the making and are all usable for the parents to be!

@BigDotOfHappiness and just to add to that if you use pins to hold anything in place it can cause the diapers to be not very useful.... pins = holes = leaks ... eek!

@nomesy81 We only use the pins just to secure the ribbon so the pins never go into the diapers. That is a good thing to watch out for when you make your own diaper cakes at home. Leaking Diapers do not make a good Baby Shower Gift! Thanks for the comment!

Looks like these are the walmart brand diapers though I know you can use any type you want. You can get a huge value pack of the White Cloud WalMart brand diapers for about $14
