  • Man, it gets so brutal at 6:30. Your heart just breaks for the little guy. Disney certainly knows how to twist your insides.

  • i watched 19 times

  • Dear All , It was not writren by Walt Disney ... It was by Hans Christian Aderson who was Denish and use to live in Odensey , he was the one who wrote this Ugly ducling and disney filmed it ... But we should not forget the brain behind who created this

  • @Madiha1982 we should not forget the brain who make it filmed and famous too... :P

  • So touching

  • Walt Disney....the greatest writer for childreen of all times.

  • @7:59 Ms. Duck, go fuck.

  • oooh que fofinho! ooh how cute!

  • A very poignant story about the devasting effects that social ostracism can have on us.

  • was it remastered? cause quality is two good for 1939, like it was filmed in 80's

  • beautiful and touching movie, that father duck is not a father nor that mother duck she is no mother, they both disowned that little cutie all he wanted was their love and affection and he got rejected by them until he found his real true family in the end

  • Mr. Duck, you are NOT the father.

  • he is so cute.this makes me cry!!

  • Ummm, this is not how the story goes. The ugly "ducking" grows up after being rejected by his parents, accepting his "ugliness", until the end, when he is instead the most beautiful bird in the whole pond. He bears no grudge against the people who shunned him. It was his hard childhood that made him a wise soul.

  • @AGR04 There are many versions, I believe the one by hans christian andersen is the original first copy of "The Ugly Duckling." Just like how there are many versions of the little mermaid, hans christian andersen was the one who started it. I don't know much about the other fairy tales but the ugly duckling and the little mermaid were originally written by Hans.

  • @XxXxBroken This is a really good site with english versions of his fairy tales if interested :)

  • @XxXxBroken hcandersen-homepage dot dk/ samlede_eventyr

  • daddy duck called mommy duck a whore and left! thatx fuked up D=

  • Comooooooon, I really was crying while swan appeared there :(

  • But I thought that the ugly "duckling" grew up and saw his reflection, and that acceptance among birds came only after he grew up and met fellow mature swans for the first time... That's the story that was read to me years ago. Cute cartoon anyway.

  • he's so cute I like how they made this a storybook in stitch

  • 23 people lost their girlfriends or boyfriends to an ugly dude who now pose for Calvin Klein.

  • this makes me cry.

  • 23 people are ugly.

  • why am i tearing up over this?!

    lol!

  • H. C. Andersen FTW! :D

  • At 7:18 there are 6 of them instead of 5, lol :D

  • i like the ending haha that's what they get for rejecting him

  • I think the ugly one is even better looking than the yellow ducks

  • whoever dislike this must had tease/bully an ugly person until that person suddenly got prettier and take his/her sweet revenge back

  • those specific ducks are meannies to the baby swan

  • I love this story...:) and yes, it makes me cry too...:s

  • the ugly duckling sure isn't ugly.

haha. gotta love these old shorts

  • This made me cry!

  • i thought that the moral of the story was meant to be that even though everyone disliked him, he grew up and to everyone's surprise turned into a beautiful swan. Meaning that there is hope for anyone. This version's moral is, he's better off with his own kind. I miss this type of animation.

  • @uglycygnets

I think the actual moral was his true family are those who love and accept him as he is.

  • @Amyprotester I would say that the message is more like "for everyone, there is always a place where you belong."

  • this make me cry :'(

  • @meytall17 ME TOO

  • i like des

  • I like how he turned his back on those ungreatful fuckers.

  • 19 people have no imagination

  • why doesnt the televison show such an anime now? I really want to see the old good films again! Come on! Show us all the Good Movies again! Trust me, even the kids now will LOVE those films!

  • I agree with friendlymonk those ducks are all retards- the ugly duckling wasn't so ugly. As a matter of fact cygnets are adorable!

  • Cartoons like this are pure works of art, they can create such emotion, I wish we can go back to this style of story telling some day, but at the moment Disney shows today are just an advanced form of giggling keys in front of a baby. children's TV shows today lack good story telling, emotion, and morals. This cartoon has a moral like all good story's.

    Thanks for uploading.

  • esto siempre me arranca aunque ya me lo sepa una lagrimita

  • That bitch cheated on him

  • No dialogue?? What are you talking about? Don't you understand Duckese and Swanese ???

  • I remember watching this short film as a child....... It always makes me cry. Even now being a grown adult I see all the underlying messages this short animation represents.

Abandonment, acceptance and the innocence of a young child just wanting to feel belonged and loved.

To say honestly, i think the ugly duckling is just adorable!! I don't know what those damned ducks problem is!!

  • @friendlymonk Well said!

  • I don't know how Disney became what it was today...

  • lol looks like th mum cheated on th dad for the white one XD

  • The scene towards the end, where the baby swan sits by the water, and cries his heart out because he believes nobody wants him, KILLS me. I burst into tears, every time I see that part. Heartbreaking.

  • @babygiraffe123

    Same here

  • i find it funny in cartoons when parents walk back and forth in one line..they can actually dig with there feets LOL..

  • This could have been the story of my life...except my ugly duckling memories still haunt me.

  • I still cry when I see the poor little guy.. I am 25 and tears my heart up.... all he wanted was love and affection and he got rejected... I would have adopted him

  • @trekkicat

I cry everytime I watch this as well.. and I am 47! :)

  • @trekkicat i just cried too... and i am 26!

  • *sob*

  • There is a "violence against women" video under suggestions...

  • aaaaaaw :(

  • I've written a few scary stories & yet I still tear up EVERY TIME I watch this classic cartoon

  • Swans are ugly when baby, but when adult BEAUTY IS APPEARED.

  • I remember I used to watch all these old cartoons whenever I stayed home sick from school. They don't play these on TV anymore, do they?

  • I never understood the wooden duck or why it was there

  • @Efri3nd it was a decoy, apprently left there by hunters, the young cygnet thought it was real and tried warming up 2 it, but he (cygnet) thought the decoy duck rejected him as well.

  • it would be so funny if the he as a swan went back to the mother and said in duck "in your face"

  • oh see i think mummy-duck had it off with a swan

  • how comes that a 30´s cartoon duckling cries more heart-wrenching than most Hollywood stars do nowadays? :`(

  • Duck affair at it's best.

  • I remember one they had watch this in school Up untill I never really knew why

  • AWW i love this story it makes me wanna cry :'D

  • I remember this story from when I was a child except the ugly duckling was black and at the end he turns into a beautiful big swan with the "Swan Lake" song playing. Anyone can tell me where I can find that video? (:

  • we all beautiful in GODS EYES

  • @Lilin1989 holy words .

  • @Lilin1989 The Flying Spaghetti Monster is more realistic and can obviously tell that you're quite ugly.

  • @Mewkip thank you

  • some of the things are not right. the ugly duckling is suppose to be black and the mother duck is suppose to love him

  • @viktor2008 that's what I thought

  • @viktor2008 The mother duck didn't love him, she defended him at first and was willing to take care of him, but grew tired of him along with his brothers and sisters. This animation carries very little resemblance to the actual story so in fact, there are A LOT of things that are not right.

  • I don't get it what's so funny 2:07

  • i can't believe i cried!

  • Hes not ugly at all! Omg this is too beautiful

  • This one makes me cry every time!!

  • Ahhhh i'm crying! So good!

  • Love this cartoon as a kid! And I can relate to that duckling after all..... =(

  • When I was little I always hated the mother duck...And I still do!!! >:(

  • I love the sound the ugly duckling makes xD

  • hes adorable

  • I remember that I used to cry when I was a baby!!! poor ugly ducking! haha

  • Love how the daddy duck called the mama duck out!

  • I just identified myself to the ugly duckling :(

    but the end was awesome!

  • GR8 hoau

  • ugly bugly dugly jungyl mangli changli

  • I love this story <3

  • WTF!? I got teary-eyed at THIS!? WTF!

on another note, swan ducklings are supposedly grey, I think...

  • this story is beautiful , it made cry hard

  • thats not ugly.. its cute :D

  • Story of my life. except in my life there's no happy ending

  • @nickycoley1 I hope you get your happy ending soon :D

  • whoa... 7:18 , there are 6 instead of 5

1 of those ducklings went through a time loop :D

  • that ending when he hugged the mom made me get choked up

  • @CresentSanctuary me toooo.... omg !

  • Man When i was younger and i saw this little movie, i felt so much better inside, thinking "good, yay someday ill be Beautiful" ¬¬ im still Waiting

  • @elrockerchido All you need to do is forget the fake and false decoys, recognize the Mother Swan and follow her closely

  • @sweetredredwine haha i dont know, but im realizing that my face is going to stay the same forever haha the thing is that I accept that im not Brad Pitt or Leo Dicaprio and more like mmmmm Brendan Gleeson or Willem Dafoe haha Im Ugly and I Accept it

  • this story just wants me to hug my mommy :)

  • moma duck: *SLAP

    popa duck: oh! phoeyy!

  • =D memmorys

  • this is such a kind and beautiful story. i love the part when the mother swan takes the "ugly duckling" and cuddles him in her wings.

  • When it comes to 10 minute old Swan, Ducky, you are NOT the father! LOL

  • I can definitely relate to the ugly duckling, except for the part of by mom ditching me, but I guess we're all just a dirty penny that needs a good spit shine.

  • Quack! Quack quack quack quacky quack quack! QUAAAAAAAAACK!

    lolz!

  • Wonderful and beautiful story~<3

But quick question, did/does anyone ever notice the sixth cygnet (baby Swan) that appears and disappears at 7:18? Because you don't see it before or even after. Just a little oddity I thought to ask about.

  • @BlueKrystalFox I realised it too. Excellent work on picking it out.

  • @BlueKrystalFox I realised that too before i read your comment...... the sixth one did a quick dash offscreen

  • 0:24 lmao I love their talking

  • I watched this as a child Wow, memories....

  • The truth behind the moral lesson is that there is always a person that gets isolated from others. This can lead to person's mortal sins, but worse yet, unforgivable sins, in order to get rid of the pain. A person will say, "I rather go to hell and having everyone like me." Eye of the beholder. God was testing that person. 7:40 the mother swan represents God figure, and when the person made it to heaven God was hiding his love until moment. God tests us. Heaven is narrow gate, therefore.

  • so, let me get this straight, the mom had an affair with a swan? lol

  • This is a better movie than Black Swan.

  • i relate to the ugly duckling

  • @BananaSandwich1 likewise

  • whoever dislikes this has no caring for being abused, rejected, and left out out.

  • This film is sadness in a can!

  • so beatiful at 7:38

  • everytime im watching this it make me cry ,

  • he see his face and after cry hahaha . lol !!!!

  • This is one of my all-time favorites from when I was a kid, but I swear I always cry! 25, sitting in front of my comp and blubbering like a baby. XD It starts with the most heartbreaking divorce in animation and goes downhill from there. Anyone who doesn't like this has absolutely no heart whatsoever. And much as I love Hans Christian Andersen, I daresay Disney's version is better. I love the happy ending. I prefer Andersen's Little Mermaid though, even with the sad ending.

  • ggggggggggggggggggaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • @victormorenoortega No sense

  • those fucking ducks

  • lol 7:57-7:58, KISS MY ASS DUCKS!!!

  • this cartoon made me cry :')

  • YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL :)UGLY DUCK.

  • Watching the swans quack reminds me of FIFA '10. Especially the South African matches.

  • A beautiful testament to the fact that a film does not need dialogue in order to be powerful and emotional.

  • @SillyLitleGirl Well said. Walle has nearly 45 minutes of no dialogue and no one ever seems to notice. Just proves you don't need it.

  • @ReferencesRStupid I LOVE Walle! It's my favorite Pixar film.

  • lol the mom and dad duck was being racist lol white duck and yellow ducks lol

  • happy ending :)

  • Wonderfull !

  • weird... this video doesn't bring me the strong emotions I had from it the first 2 times I've seen it.

  • I think that the ugly duckling is not ugly!...he's cute and beautiful...i think that the yellow ducklings are ugly also their mom!!.......

  • @malaika701

The ugly duckling is actually a swan that's why it doesn't make a pretty duckling :)

  • what a beautiful film...

    it's beyond words...

  • 3:14-3:23 Made me mad. Mother and her kids dissin another little kid to his face like that. Fuck you and your bastard kids,Bitch!!!!

  • it's very painful to watch. Do children who see it learn anythingfrom it?

  • When I was a kid I never understood why the father duck got so upset at the mother or why they were fighting in the beginning. Now I realized it's cause he was accusing her of having an affair. Funny adult humor there.

Father: QUACK QUACK QUACK! (YOU FILTHY WHORE!)

Mother: *gasps* QUACK!?! (WHAT!?!) *slaps him*

  • @lunastar89 I thought he was saying that "well he didn't get it from ME, the ugly gene must be from YOUR FAMILY!" ;p

  • @lunastar89 Same here! I nearly died laughing when I realised.
